The Power of Twitter - HUGE News.

Title change per request.

Just got an interesting "Tweet" from marketer Johnathan Mizel concerning Twitter.

Seem's they're setting up now so that your "Tweets" with links to various websites will now be scoped out in a "Google" type manner.

On another note, I found a new site a couple of days ago that allows you to set up a "mini-blog". It also allows you to set up AdSense, and you get revenue sharing based upon your number of posts, blog ranking ect.

Was wondering what the update was. That's huge. Too bad the title of this thread doesn't describe this monumental change whatsoever, you should try to change it to something like, "HUGE TWITTER NEWS" or something.

And just think... Apple could be closing the deal as we speak on the next big search engine. Google's acquisition manager could get canned over this... lol This was timed well for twitter. It could create bidding war for the site.

I wonder what algorythms they will use
and what criteria they will set forth for
    ...maybe... allow or not allow?

Better start getting some backlinks built up to your profile. Do some deep linking to your best tweets. Will be interesting to see what happens. I know the article mentioned something basing it on total followers and how many you follow and a couple of other factors like that. I can see sitepoint now... PR5 Twitter account with 5000 followers for sale...

If it is the algorithm is only dependent upon the number of followers, it wouldn't be fair to the other followers. I believe it will be more of an latest activity search engine, rather than a Google search engine.

      Hello All!

      Exactly the point Alex.

People using Twitter to spam should be dealt with quickly. I like to think of Twitter and Facebook et.al. as a party that I am attending. I use them to build relationships and make friends/share information.

My blog is where I talk about business. If people CHOOSE to go there then they get info on my business.

I think this will end up being a huge plus.

Really interesting info Pete - Twitter's going to develop and grow in many other weird and wonderful ways yet.

I concur with Alex it is great news for us non-spamming Twitterers.

Ahhh... the thought of twitter optimization, is scary. And while I hope they almost totally discount the number of followers (a useless stat in my mind), I can see the digital point posts coming as well for a pr5 twitter account with 20k followers. Nice! Of course like everything else on DP, the cost would be down to under $10 before we know it.

It will be interesting to see how Twitter implement this.

Marketing tweets aside, there are probably few tweets that have links in them.

Maybe this is their way to make money from the marketing lunatics that are attempting to take over their asylum.

    Cheers,

    Neil
