turn purchased email list into opt in?

Is is possible to buy and email list and send out your email to the addresses with your own form/email message ie.

hi we received your email from a colleague, we offer xyz if you would be interested in receiving our offers please.. opt in here.

very rough example just to give you an idea of what i was thinking?

    No autoresponder company will allow you to import a bought list, Dan.

    And their reasons for not being willing to do so are the very same reasons which ought to stop you from doing so yourself, with a self-hosted autoresponder.

    I appreciate that you want to start by asking them for an opt-in "to make them your own", but what makes it ok to email them in the first place, even to ask them that? :confused:

    Almost nobody here who has had any success at all, with email marketing, will ever recommend buying a list.

    Just pay for advertising such as banner ads, ezine ads (similar to solo ads) and/or solo ads. Same result - less headache.

    Yes I recommend building your list FAST doing ad swaps or buying solo ads... Don't waste your money buying those outdated lists that you cannot use anyway with any of the best autoresponders... Cheers!

    adswaps and solo ads I will look into there i have not heard of those yet, lol this business is a steep learning curve when your doing it all on you own i have a website with a twitter, Facebook, tumblr, g+ and a squidoo site all liked to it i just need to build traffic and start getting emails.
