Help Me Spend $500 in September

I've budgeted $500 for continuing education in September. I have been working part-time in affiliate marketing. My goal is to become better in this area. If you were me how would you spend this $500? I would appreciate you input into these options:

1. Local college is offering a 2-day course in CSS
2. Joining Wealthy Affiliate for one year
3. Traffic Secrets 2.0
4. Other

Thanks for your help,
Steve

    Hi Steve,

Seems pretty clear-cut to me. Your goal is to become a better affiliate marketer, so that's what you should invest in.

I wouldn't bother with the 2 day course in CSS,
it takes more than 2 days to master something
and I doubt that learning CSS is going to
help you increase your earnings - unless you
plan on designing websites for other people.

Outsource any CSS work you have, this way
you free yourself up for other tasks.

By all means, try out WA - I wouldn't bank
on staying a member for a full year. They
do have new developments all the time, but
once you've learned the basics, you'll probably
spend less and less time there and the investment
        might be better spent elsewhere.

Thanks to you all. Yes, Zach I am very busy with several sites building content and writing articles. I've heard a great deal about Traffic Secrets. What exactly does it offer that is unique to this program?

Thanks Karl. I was wondering if 2 days would really help me with CSS. It is frustrating not knowing how things like this work. But, I do think you make a very good point. Thanks.

Yes, II, I think the beach sounds great.

Asher and Sirius, thanks for your input as well.

            I appreciate you all.

            Hey Steve,

Take Karl's advice. No point spending $500 bucks on a course which will take you MORE than 2 days to learn and when you can learn it for free quickly at w3schools.com.

Go to del.icio.us and just search for CSS there. You will find a ton of great tutorials. Don't waste your $500 on that 2 day course.

If you have time during your Sept holidays (is it?), I highly recommend you purchase a home study course for your $500.

And since you are into affiliate marketing, I too recommend John Reese Traffic Secrets. I just completed the videos 2 days ago and now implementing it.

Here's my short biased review. It's Great. The tactics and strategies John is teaching through the videos are tied in very well together, and at the end of the entire video course you will get a good overview of what you will want to do. On top of the videos, he's providing a resource page that will be updated and a private community forum where you can ask for help from fellow TS2.0 customers.

The best value I feel is what John is providing after the videos. He provides these action lists where he list down all the steps to take towards implementing what you learn in the videos. I'm currently into my 2nd list and have to say it REALLY compressed what I learned over 2 years into 1 week. Kinda angry why TS2.0 wasn't released when I first started.

Okay end of blatant advertising. It just kinda pours out of me. Can't help it. :-) For $397, plus shipping depending on where you stay, I'm very confident you will find it a great investment for your $500.

Are you fairly new to IM? If so, again go for Traffic Secrets 2.0. :-)

There are a lot of other free and great resources too. Just do your due diligence and make sure you know what you need, and then find the best available resource to learn from or invest in.

I have my own personal list of learning resources in my signature, if that helps.

Best of luck in your investment!

    TIME have you budgeted?

To effectively answer your question and quest...it has to do with what you need to know, how fast and for what purpose.

So, if your continuing education is going to be specific to AFFILIATE marketing, I'd suggest you spend your money with established people in that area which offer tested and proven blueprints to follow. Perhaps people like Allan Gardyne or Rosalind Gardner types who have the educational materials you seek.

500 dollars CAN buy you a lot of valuable education, OR it could be like toilet paper in an outhouse...paper you'll never get back

How many hours a week can you commit and how many will you?

What does your TIME budget look like? How many hours a day studying the FREE things, like what you find here? How many hours polishing your skills that could create a rapid rise to profits (like copywriting)?

What sort of a return on your TIME investment are you looking for? Are you seeking more automated type solutions...in which case, perhaps electronic ROBOTS like autorsponders may be a better choice for your MONEY.

Honestly, sit tight on your 500 for a week. THINK about what you want to do, what is your PLAN for achieving it, how does the educational "buy" fit into those plans and how much TIME, realistically do you have to A) learn B) Apply what you learn?

So take a deep breath, hide your wallet from yourself for a couple of days, and create a WRITTEN plan of action that will lead you to the place you want to go...

Then, it will become a lot clearer for you to see where to spend your money. OK?

    Good luck,

    Gordon Jay Alexander

Heaps of great advice up there Steve - great post!
I think lots of people will benefit from the information here!

If it were me - I would join Empowerism or Success University!
The first is totally aimed at netmarketing and SU is awesome for both personal and business mastery and development!

Why not shoot 2 birds with the one stone?
I really enjoy the courses through Sucess University, I have learned alot and enjoy sharing in information from top world leaders in their area's!
BTW - you can make good money from SU aswell.......

          Thats what I'd do!

You should get a certification in SEO with WebCeo. It is just $150 and you will get recognition in this industry.

              Steve,
I'm not sure the choices you list are right for you. Clearly save your money on the CSS class. Honestly I know nothing about CSS and it hasn't hurt my ability to generate online income and I suspect you can do fine without it.

Wealthy Affiliate is a good membership but you can learn tons simply byby studying this forum and the old forum - during the whole month of September. The same might be said for Traffic Secrets 2. I'm sure it's a great program but do you need it right this minute?

I believe you could achieve what you are after for less then $300...

              Respectfully,

I would consider time as an important factor. Do you have enough time to go over the new course that you intend to purchase?

If you already purchase other home study course or ebook, audios, etc, have you study them all?

I know nothing about CSS but I still get by OK. If I must learn, I probably go to the library and find a quick guide on it. If not, the local bookstores have some useful books on it too.

Perhaps you can think about how that $500 can make you work more efficiently and free up your time to do the same things you enjoy.

You know I'm going to go against the flow here and say you learn best by DOING.

Go through all the information, reports and courses you have right now on affiliate marketing and start applying them to the letter.

There will be costs in doing some of these things (in pay per click or getting graphics done etc etc) and you can invest your money more wisely there.

But just going full on and applying everything you already have step by step...taking the ACTION seriously instead of thinking some new knowledge is going to make you rich...that's the real secret to succeeding in an online business.

Beyond that if you're determined to spend money on training I'd recommend you pay for mentoring from someone who'll make you get off your arse and take action.

                    Kindest regards,

I am talking about these books that are written to help us to learn how to make money like the big boys and gals. I do not find them easy to understand. The video pictures are too small to comprehend. The audios are too low for those with hearing impairments. The how to do application is not user friendly.
