Best Site for Finding Freelancers

Hi everyone,

I have a project that is a bit longer than a fiverr would work for. It's been a while since I've outsourced any work - and things change quickly. What are your favorite sites for finding freelancers? Specifically, I'm looking for a researcher.

Thanks!

It depends on what you're looking for. Fiverr is great for small batches of outsourced work.

From my personal experience, Odesk is the best. I have used Freelancer but I cannot get quality contractors there as opposed to Odesk contractors. Fiverr is more for small gigs and for unique stuff like video testimonials, buying social media. Fiverr is not a place to go looking for freelancers per say.

Are you serious? Or are you related to iWriter?

While I think iWriter has done a great job with their website and all, comparing it to Fiverr is completely out of the question as there isn't any thing to compare.

There is just no match at all. iWriter still has a long way to go before it can even dare to compare with Fiverr.

Not to talk of the fact that of the two sites, you actually recommended him iWriter. I would really like to hear on what you are basing your recommendation, if not some affiliation with the latter.

I tried out fiverr for awhile. All it really results in is doing work for SUPER CHEAP.

Whereas I charge 60/hr for work (and I have more than enough), they want the same quality work for $5 with unlimited revisions. Dream On.

Maybe fiverr can be good for some people, but for me I just feel cheated.

I deleted my fiverr after a couple weeks. Not from lack of work but because of what I just mentioned.

I frequently use oDesk for outsourcing and find it the easiest way to get a job done by someone who really knows what they are doing and is an expert in the field.
Not to mention you can get work done for really cheap.

The feedback system is very good, and you can really investigate contractors before hiring them.

I've nothing but recommendation to give on oDesk, and you should really check it out.

      Elance, Odesk are the biggest.
Odesk has more international freelancers. This could be a positive or negative depending on who you are.
Elance has more english speaking people.

Both suck. They (the website company i.e. Elance) will do everything they can to swindle every cent from you.

Guru is another but they are the worst when it comes to swindling you.
Freelancer.com is another but I highly do not recommend to use them.

Best thing to do, is to find a freelancer that's good and take them on outside of the freelancer site for the remainder of the projects. Of course the freelancer sites "forbid" this because they want to steal profits from you. But ethically, philosophically, and sociologically, you don't have any obligation as a human to continue paying a swindling middleman after you've found a good freelancer. That's my philosophy.

Personally found Elance and oDeskto be the best talent communities. Like any hiring process, you need to know what you're looking for however.

I would love to know this also! I recently had to fire/let go a few freelancers/outsourcers who turned out to be flaky and sketchy.
Sadly, my area is WAY TOO pricey to find real world help I can interview personally.

My experience with freelancer.com was very nice. Odesk.com and eLance.com are good options too.

You have to spend time to select the right person. Don't depend on the reviews too much.
