3 Simple Steps to Email Optin Cash

1. Instead of having people optin and go straight to your free gift/download...

...email them the gift/download and have a meta-refresh page tell them "the free gift/download is being sent via email and should be in their email box in a few minutes" and then you automatically send them to an offer (btw: this can be your affiliate link) after 3 seconds.

-----------------------
Place inside <head> to redirect to http://offerpage.com/ after 3 seconds:

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="3; url=http://offerpage.com/">

fyi: You can get more info about "meta refresh" here:
Redirect to a Different URL using the Meta Tag "Refresh":*Web Site Maintenance:*Tools and Guides:*IU Webmaster:*Indiana University
-----------------------

2. Add an offer on your download page where they get your free gift

3. Add an offer in your free gift/download especially if it's an free report.

Of course, the offer has to be relevant to your subscribers... aka "make sense".

If you have anymore way's please feel free to add to the list by posting below...

  • Put the download in a .zip file, and include extra files in there...
for example, an .html shortcut to a special offer.

Name the .html file something catchy, like "SomethingYouWant.html"

    • Wille I am always reluctant to download zip files (unless I have purchased a product). do you have any thoughts about people downloading those files?

    • Hmm.. that's pretty slick, I'll have to try that.. Thanks!
  • Thanks Matt. This works. I've been doing this for some niches, and the main thing is to increase the probability of seeing the offer, because the fact is, visibility decreases the longer you wait after an opt-in (email open rates drop, etc).

  • This is great advice Matt and Willie for those of us building lists. These little steps can really increase the exposure of your offers to your opt-ins which can definitely decrease the amount of time it takes to turn a looker into a buyer.

  • Optimize your download page with another attention grabbing banner leads to another offer.

Its like download your freebies below

Wait, How about securing your hands on more making money techniques at once? << catchy headline ( keep it more bold and attention grabbing than the download button)

Check out here! << link or banner, banner works best.
  • Remind them that an email with your name has been sent to them with the download link "just in case they needed the page again". A lot of marketer leaves this out. But this is a very vital step. I'll explain why later...

Tell your subscriber that another bonus is awaiting at the first email (Give your subscriber another important incentive to look for and open your email - keep repeating your name).

You need to leave instruction for your subscriber to "unjunk" and white-list your email. Or for gmail online - drag your email from the Promotion Tab into the Primary Tab.

All these few steps train them to identify and look out for your emails in future - it will help them recall your name in the sea of spam and most importantly, increase your open rate.

    Hope this helps.

    • So Matt,

I'm assuming you would only use one of the three techniques when a person opts in to your list, correct? Can you tell us, from your experience, which one has been the most successful (profitable) for you?

      Thanks,

      Steve

    • This is a great tip. It'll keep them hungry for more info from the emails we send out and train them to expect great things from us. We'd better live up to that expectation!

  • Thanks for sharing. Simple things works and it will be much better idea not to over complicate the whole process. I have place an offer in my thank you page and it has been working great for me
  • Thanks for the share, Matt. I shall try this immediately and post my feedback.

  • Thanks for the great info Matt! I will try this out.
  • Thanks for the great advise Matt. Greatly appreciated.
  • Adding an offer as a banner rather than a text link will attract more people to it and hopefully more clicks to the offer.

    • That's a great idea and suggestion... personally, I
don't hope, I test to find out if my idea is correct.

Which makes me think, I need to split-test my download pages.

Thanks for the slap in my head moment! :-)

  • My Opt-Ins are taken to a customized "Thank You" page that tells them that I have sent them the ebook/report to the email address they provided instead of immediately providing them a download link. They are more likely to provide a valid email address that way. The thank you page also has a couple of CPA offers in the same niche. It seems to be working fine.
  • Wow - this is really good info, You gave me a
    great idea... Thanks, Joseph
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Another tip, never put your sales page directly, you need a optin to build a relationship first to help conversions.

    • Not sure I believe that statement. Unless, I'm totally
misunderstanding what your really saying here.

  • Thank you Matt, I am only giving a thank you page and no offer in it, easy to complete.
  • Thanks Matt
    Very useful for us newbies.
  • Many thanks Matt for sharing; it's always good to learn from your new ideas, different takes and thoughts, much appreciated. cheers!
  • Thanks for the ideas Matt, I seriously need to read up more on how to do the suggestions you mentioned.
  • Thanks for these great insights Matt! Good points to ponders for those who are building their list and those who are interested. This stratey can surely increase chance of the offers to get exposed to the subcribers. Thanks again!
  • Awesome advice Matt...thanks for your advice and I will surely practise it with great diligence...
  • Here is another easy to implement tip...

Add a .txt file or an .html shortcut inside the zip - call it - "Bonus Downloads"...

Here you can add the link for another marketer that you are banking clicks with or you can cut a deal with another marketer to "swap" links. This is a cool way to get some extra clicks from the traffic you already have.

Be sure to use a redirect that way you can change the link when you change marketer's and all your "old" zip files will still point to an active link.

    Cheers,
    Coby

    • That redirect is one of the most important lessons I learned. Once someone leaves your site or you give them an external link you lose control.

  • Thanks for the great idea I am going to try this out.
  • Hey Matt, I am new to this internet marketing. There have been a few people that I have read on this forum, that keep the concepts simple and valuable. You are moving to the head of my list. Thanks for the great idea.

    • Go get'em tiger.
    • Give them a Free PDF and add links that lead to your Optin Page.
  • Thanks Matt, great insight from you.
What do you think about also providing them with a system that allows them to post any questions, or do you feel that this would tie up too much of your time?
Thanks again for a great post.

    • No problem!

Well, not sure people are going to like to hear my answer
to this but personally, your focus should be to monetize the
lead costs fast so you get your money back, then train them
to click on your emails. In reality, getting that to happen is
hard enough... not sure it's the best use of time at least mine.

  • Hi Guys, this is really good stuff! Thanks to you all. Pls keep it coming.
So much info and tips and also thanks Matt for the info link, any more places to get IM info?
    Thanks

    • Matt,

I currently use a 'redirect' as a 'thank you' page, which tells the sub their freebie has been 'sent to their inbox and please just wait here a couple of seconds while I show you an offer'. This in turn that goes to a rotating offer so that I can see which one converts better.

The question I'm gonna ask is how long do you think subscribers are willing to wait after they subscribe, while the magic happens and the offer appears on their screen. 2 seconds? 3? How long?

The reason I ask is because my routine takes about 5 seconds all up. That said, there is a 'thank you' page on display that includes a bar graph showing that something is happening - so it's not like they're presented with a dead screen or anything.

      Any thoughts?

  • Matt, nice post!

I use this little technique in some of my biz, and it really works.
Sometimes little and simple clever stuff works best.

    Once again, good one Matt!

    See you 'round!
