.info domains are $9.69 on namecheap now?

I was about to buy a .info domain from namecheap but now they are $9.69! They used to be like $2.99, what happened? On godaddy they are still $2.99. I've never bought a domain from godaddy, but I think I will have to now.

Yes, they've gone up significantly. I used to buy them at GoDaddy, and took far longer than I should have done, to switch to Namecheap. I definitely won't be moving back to GoDaddy just to save a few dollars on the occasional .info domain: it is a significant price-difference, I agree, but I'm just too delighted and relieved never to have to do business with GoDaddy again even to contemplate it. The quiet satisfaction of not doing business with them is one of those few things in internet marketing that just transcends monetary value.

That's damn expensive. The weird thing is, on Godaddy I added an .info domain to the cart and it said the price is $3.17 for 1 year. Then when I selected 2 years, it says the price is $15.36. What would the price go up by over $10 for 1 more year.

Why wouldn't you do business with GoDaddy again?

I have not done any domain buying this year and has a Namecheap account also. The price for .info is just $2 point something dollar a year ago. I'm planning to buy .nfo this August for my niche site so anyway thanks for the info.

That's a lot, especially if you consider how cheap .coms are being sold. My guess is the demand for them has increased, otherwise why would this happen?

Right now, you can register .info for $0.99 at 1 &1.
Later on you transfer to Name Cheap for $9.69 for an extra year.
Your total yearly cost is $5.34. You could do that with any registrar
    for cost reduction.

Maybe .info will no longer be used for spamming.
