Fake Paypal Business Name

Hi,

I'm using fake paypal business name for 5 years. Never link to any bank account and withdraw any money. My name and personal information is real , only the "buisiness name" is fake.

Now thinking of change the business name to my real company name. Do you think it's a good ideas ? Will they ask for document proof of my existing fake company? They never ask me for any document before.

The problem is I've a recurring payment to my existing paypal and I'll lost all my future payment if i make a new account.

Hope someone can advice me on this and thanks in advance.
Jack

    StarFrank,

    Thank for your suggestion.

That's what i'm doing now. Send the money to my paypal personal account and withdraw from there.

What I'm worry is the recurring charge increase every month and 1 day they will ask for any document proof and limit my business account.

Any one has change the business name before? Do they ask any question ?

    Thanks again
    Jack

I never changed the name before but I have one that I made with a business name that I never went actually registered as a business name. I had planned to but never did. I have this account verified and connected to my bank and I even have a paypal debit card. They never asked me for any proof of the business name. Not sure if this helps but hopefully it does!

Why not send all new signups through your new account (change your order button)?

Actually you can have as many business accounts as you want, as long as they are separate companies.

Jack, why would you create a fake business name? Can't you just setup a business under the name already in place?

You should have never put in fake info... You need to change that ASAP before you lose your PayPal account...

When I changed to an LLC they didn't ask for documentation etc. BUT if they find out it's a fake name you are definitely up the creek without a paddle.

    Cheers,

PayPal does seem to like it when an account has a HISTORY with them which you do now. There is no reason you can't do business under several names. Use the name you have at PayPal now also.

Why call it a fake business name? You can always say you do business under the name of xxxxx. A lot of people have names they do business under and they are not always registered or what have you. Why open a can of worms? Be sure to pay your taxes and be professional. Thats my thought but I am not an accountant, lawyer etc.

My thoughts exactly. I don't know why the OP is calling it a fake business account. A fake account is an account with false information.

As picky as Paypal can get, I wouldn't change a thing. You could just be asking for a lot of hassle or worse.

As usual some terrible and stupid advice here on the WF no surprise there then.

Any how do not open a second account unless you know what to do as you will be linked via various means, such as IP, name, address, flash cookies, D.O.B, email and many other factors paypal have in its security to track and link accounts.

Well technically each business account under a real established business is its own legal entity so you can have several paypal accounts for different businesses and if you are legit in what you do then simply talk to paypal as they are more friendly than what people say especially if you have a real business and nothing shady then they will help you all the way.

Many reasons people set up accounts with fake info such as banned from paypal, being under age, being in a country that does not allow paypal registration and so on. Yea it may seem dumb to some people but... it isn't.

That fake account was not a good idea at all, to be honest.
WOW do not do this terrible advice, " the fake account was not a good idea" oh you don't say sheesh...

Once again I am sure this guy knows he should not have opened an account with a fake name so come on do you really need to mention that or is it just a way to sound more intelligent and get some sig links spammed in?

Just out of curiosity, did you have any reason to not input your correct details initially?
Don't open a new account paypal can easily track same payments. An example would be if you sold SEO services and had a few recurring clients then one day your account is banned so you open a new paypal and start the SEO service back up. You receive similar payment amounts as before from some of the same email addresses its pretty obvious to paypal who the account belongs to and soon as the system flags you up bye bye paypal account.

^^^^ Now that is almost on the money however this is what to do, to change your business name on paypal they will not ask for any old documentation from your old business name so don't worry about that.

As long as your details are real such as name, address, number and new business name simply either call them (best option) or email them explaining that you now trade in a different business name and would like to up date that on your paypal account simple.

If you are taking in transactions and have nothing dodgy going on they will email you a form to do that. Its basically just an email or they will do it over the phone for you. The other option if its available on your account is login and click on update business details.

Some accounts have a link to change business name, so click that and update your name and fill in why you are updating the business name.

You are worrying about nothing if your business is legit paypal don't care just tell them you don't trade in that name anymore simple.

In what sense is the business name "fake"?

I changed my personal account into a business account some years ago. Gave a random name as I didnt really have a business back then.

6 months ago I politely asked PayPal to change the name to reflect the name of my now established business. They did that with no questions asked.

Disclaimer: Don't take this as advice because I'm no Paypal expert by any stretch of the imagination.

However, I have changed my business name several times on there as I've done different things over the years. Never had any problem and it's been instant.

IMO don't do anything with your paypal account if you think it will raise a red flag because it WILL happen. I and so many of us have had account limited and suspended for very stupid things. If i were you i would either contact paypal and explain to them or make a new account.

    Simple solution...

Register the "fake" name as a legit DBA. Clearly, you are doing some business under that name already.

    Problem solved.

Of course, if you are not reporting income from this business, that could complicate things a bit. But you shouldn't be doing that anyway.

This is my problem. registered the business name first and later found out it can't be register under my country.

However, I have changed my business name several times on there as I've done different things over the years. Never had any problem and it's been instant.
4dayweekend, in this case, i may change it to my company name as i can see it can easily be done under the paypal profile.

Anyone change it and question by paypal before ?

How about downgrade it to premier accounts ? Anyone has done that before?

Thanks again warriors. You guys are all very helpful.

I am not sure why you created a fake PayPal business name to begin with, but if it is not broken do not fix it. You will be kicking yourself if you change it and then PayPal flags your account. But then again it sounds like others have done it with no problem, so maybe it does not matter.

I've comfirmed in other forums, paypal willl never ask for document proof when you setup your business account. They only ask the document proof if they suspect anything illegal or against their TOS.

Well whoever told you that didn't know what they were talking about - when you reach $20,000 in transactions within one year - they will verify the account.

There is nothing like a fake business name with paypal. You can name your business as you wish. It has not to be related to a real corporation or a real business name in real life. It is only a Paypal "Title".

I changed my business name on PayPal about 3 to 4 times before I got my final business name which now a registered business. I wasn't questioned by PayPal nor did they limit my account back then. I'd recommend you to contact them before changing your business name on PayPal if you have a plan to change it. It's better to be proactive than reactive.
