OptimizePress 2.0 Launch Question...

Why are all the affiliates and JV partners releasing the sales/optin video and past customers haven't heard a peep?

I have used OP since it was first released. After many months of delays it is supposedly being released today. Past customers were promised a discount on the new version but if we aren't affiliates we have never heard anything.

I went ahead and opted in through an affiliate just to get the notification of the release but it seems like a strange way to launch the product. I will be very disappointed if I don't ever get a direct link with a discount from OP.

What am I missing?

    Hi Janice,

I've also been using optimize press for many years and I've created membership sites and funnels using the find WordPress theme. As far as why you haven't heard that's a good question and I think James has been a little too quiet concerning this launch all around, this would mean JV partners, past customers etc.

However having launched many products myself over the years I can tell you that the launch of this magnitude is incredibly complex and there are so many moving parts.

The most important thing is the product itself and getting the sales system and final set up prior. I would guess That James is focusing on these core elements right now and has his back up against the wall.

I also believe James to be a man of integrity and I believe he will follow up on what he promised earlier. However for now just sit back and wait and give it a few days, if you're a past customer perhaps wait a day or two before buying once the cart opens.

Please note this form post was voice dictated using my snazzy iPad, sorry for any typos or errors.

    Best,

This has to be one of the poorest product launches in recent times.

For affiliates that are interested in promoting this product, they have given little to no information.

No one even seems to know what time the product will go live.

I hope at least the end product is solid.

Terrible marketing- very poor and disappointing.

I disagree, I think it's be best launch in history! I saw dozens of discussions on the internet, when it finally launch it's going to fly like hotcakes. MARK MY WORDS!

The ONLY email I have ever received from OP about the new version linked to this video:

      The New OptimizePress (First Look)

If you scroll down in the comments there is this reply from James Dyson:

"Joe - we'll have a special deal for existing customers so don't worry you won't lose out. We'll be in touch closer to launch with more information - thank you for choosing OptimizePress!"

I have never seen anything but that.

Poor Launch? I don't own OP1 and I've been hearing about this
launch forever on the WF with the same old question been
answered a million times about if OP1 customers will get a
discount. James has answered that question 'copy and paste'
    style for months now.

So if even without seeking information about this product
I know so much then I don't think this is a poor launch.

LOL I love their product but when it comes to a release date, you can NEVER trust the Optimizepress team.

Last year in March they mentioned that OP2 would be available by June 2012 at the latest. It's now more than a year later and we STILL don't have a definite release date. Maybe today but I'm not holding my breath.

Cool I have found myself checking my email at least once every hour, just to see if I get a notification saying that it is now available to upgrade.

Given that it is now 8.30pm UK time (where James is based), I doubt it will be released today. However, it will suit ET, as it is only 3.30pm so maybe plenty of time yet.

No doubt the product will be awesome, but I do feel rather stupid for putting the release date info out to my list and my blog posts.

But I guess it will be released when it is released. And it is generating even more buzz for OP.

This is why I mentioned from an affiliate's perspective it is poor marketing. First it was 30th, then it was delayed to 31st and now we don't have a time. When you are mailing out to your list, you want to be as specific and timely as you can.

I understand a lot of things can go wrong in a launch but OP team is known for poor planning and execution. This product was supposed to be released last year and they just kept postponing indefinitely until now.

Brian nailed it. When it comes to a big launch there are so many things that have to be lined up that even one small issue can have a domino effect. It's pretty clear that has happened here.

As far as James offering OP1 customers a deal, he has already said that would be the case. I didn't really expect all the details before launch but I have no doubt that we will get one.

What a joke. Not sure if I can trust a company that postpones things so many times, really shows a lack of professionalism and makes me wonder about future updates and bugs... been waiting a month and V.2 is nowhere to be seen...so it's over to the competition. Salespress 2.0 is looking like a solid alternative especially with their $77 launch deal. Does anyone else have any recommendations? AP3? ProfitsTheme?

I'm in the same boat, couldn't wait any longer so went with AP3. More than happy with this.

OptimizePress 2 release has been put back so many times, you can be sure that if they are still ironing out bugs even now, that more will become apparent after release.

I'm patient.. I can wait. After all's said and done, it's my choice.

I could go with what I have or with another theme, but as said I can wait. In my launch, I put the cart before the horse and have had to pull back, which as one can realize, is not good. Even for a free membership site.

However...it is what it is and when OP2 is released and puts all my 'stuff' on one theme ill be stoked.

Considering the launch of OP2 I agree, it's different from 2 of the other BIG launches this year.

EVS and Video Genesis (bought EVS through Omar Martin and John Thornhills link- amazing bonuses). Didn't get VG but learned so much from theirs.

Hoping to see if today's the day.

The thing for me is, it's not the launch that's important for those 'on the hook', it's the product.

And if it does ( for me) what I hope, all will be well

    Gotta love this forum...

I doubt seasoned affiliates are concerned at all, delays are a part of life. Does it really matter that the launch happens today, tomorrow, or a month from now?

Any affiliate/partner promoting OP2 worth their salt would be foolish to abandon a new release of a product which has unequivocally changed internet marketing online with version 1.

So, I can see a little disappointment or even a bit of anxiety on the delayed release, but if you have any familiarity with Dyson and his team you know that their product is solid and support has been the very best. At least that has been my experience

So while past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results, I think we should afford the OP team the opportunity to iron out any wrinkles before the official launch...whenever it happens.

    Just relax.

OP 2.0 will be selling for years to come so there is no rush to get it right away.

I would wait a few weeks before updating. No need to rush it. Even if you save a few dollars getting in now it's usually not worth it for me because a lot of these tools as complex as OP2.0 is will have a lot of bugs to be ironed out as so many people start using it and testing it's limits.

So my advice is to give it a few weeks.

This reminds me of Apple. Their rabid buyers will put up with almost any indignity: delays, long lines, inventory shortages, even high prices. Even after breaking one promise after another we get "this is the greatest launch ever." Wow - how is that measured? Because a flock of people will still buy? Okay, then it's great. However, I measure differently - does a person keep their word, to they communicate relevant information, do they attempt keep me as a customer happy? On these, this is a huge fail and very disappointing.

This could have been handled simply - continue to sell version 1, beta test 2, then sell to your customers, then do a launch to the world. Instead we get broken promises, limbo, moved dates, lack of information, on and on. Wow.

Then we're told "if you knew him or his family..." Reminds me of the neighbors who tell the cops "oh he was such a nice neighbor who would have thought he beat his wife."

I'm sure the fanboys will rip me apart now. However after months, weeks and now hourly events of this nonsense I've decided to speak up. Would we put up with this treatment in any area of our lives but IM? This is either disrespect or incompetence, neither one works for me.

Instead we get broken promises, limbo, moved dates, lack of information, on and on. Wow. This is like a bad engagement where the person thinks "marriage will fix this." I'll pass.

PS: this absolutely impacts affiliate credibility. They made promises and must have also felt were breakable. No follow-up. No "I'm sorry, I know I said this would happen today but..." Nothing. Take me off your list because you're never selling me squat going forward. Perhaps integrity no longer matters. Just saying.
I'm an OP fan but I'm certainly not going to rip you apart for a well supported viewpoint. I'm not condoning false or non-communication if that is truly what's going on with the launch. I suspect that there is some issue with the upgrade/discount algorithm processing which is causing the delay, or something along those lines. But I don't think the delay is intentional.

I'm sure they can do a better job communicating, but having been involved in internet launches... I know how very stressful it can be when focused on mitigating the myriad of issues that comes with a launch of this magnitude.

      Nonetheless, points are well taken.

Frankly, this already has me more a little annoyed with my purchase... I was planning on using this software to build leadpages for some of my offline clients, but now that's going to cost me $200 / client to even get started? Ugh... I'm going to give OP2 a chance, but this has already got me thinking about getting a refund and going with leadpages.net instead.

Just include, the cost of Op2 in your packages for clients. Buy a single license, for each client ($99) each and there you go....

Yes, that is what I will have to do, if I decide to stay with OP2... Pass the cost on to my clients. I'm not yet convinced I can justify that $100 / client for OP2 over what leadpages.net offers for just $200 / year. I can charge the same prices, regardless of what software I use, but if I use OP2 I'm basically just forfeiting $100 profit / client, as I see it.

I'm going to give OP2 a chance, because I like the software a lot, so far, but I have to be honest about this pricing model being a pretty big turnoff for me.

That would not be possible as your clients are not prior OP clients, entitled to the $99 special.

        So it's $197 PER client.

Ouch, there are cheaper lead gen solutions out there for client sites.

As an existing OP customer, I emailed support re user discounts and got a very quick reply from support.

As said above there will be a discount, and Ill be notified.

Will weigh that up with buying through one of the affiliates.

I have been excited over this launch for many months. But now I am left a bit dismayed. I am confident this is a great product and the best of luck to James for all his hard work. BUT I would have appreciated (and expected) a launch discount. Let's be honest. Doesn't most everyone offer a special discount at launch nowadays?? At least something. A couple of dollars(?) I actually remember reading somewhere before where an OP staff member mentioned early adopters being given a discount. What happened here? Because of that there is no real impetus for me to buy now rather than in a couple of weeks time after I sus out some serious reviews about the ins and outs of it (I am not interested in some of the overinflated bonus offers being promoted). I find the 2 x videos on the sales page underwhelming and flat. Something like 'I could go into details about all the features of OP2 - but I won't'. Sorry? Isn't this a SALES page? The page mentions membership portals but no real substance about what this means. Can we build full blown membership sites built with OP 2 (without other plugins) or not?? Roll on Profits Theme 2.0!

The email I got gives a pretty steep discount. Loved version 1 and I will be using version 2. It's a bargain if you ask me.

  • Delays suck, but they're part of software development, especially if you're looking into a big project as OP2.

I've been involved in such big projects and what it originally seemed like a 6-month development process, it ends up being closer to a year until everything runs as you had envisioned.

I really don't see the hype...

    - member pages
    - responsive design
    - drag and drop editor

    what else am I missing?

Salespress and other wp sales page themes have the following features:

1 - Drip feed content - viewable countdown timer with expiration for Oto built into the ip address and displayed on the page?

Video features... are any of these available?
    2) When pausing video - newsletter sign up form pops up?
    3) force sign up to newsletter before watching video content locker?
    4) hidden 'buy now' button that shows after x minutes of watching video?

5 - time based redirect script?

This product is weak at best and only for inexperienced internet marketers. Please give me a reason to buy Optimizepress 2.0... I'm not seeing much features to match the high price tag.

They seem to be having problems with their API keys at the moment. I bought the 3 site option yesterday and you get 3 API keys, but optimize press says they are all invalid. Got a support ticket going...

Since I started this thread I guess I can call for wrapping it up. Thanks everyone for your comments and insight. Anyone that wants to comment on or ask questions about the actual released product should do it in a new thread in the "Product Review" section here:

    Thanks, J
