Complete Newbie Seeks Input

Please excuse this post if it is in the wrong forum and/or has been addressed recently.

Hello everyone. I have been on the site for a little over a month, researching and reading posts from established WF posters to newbies such as myself. I am resolved to building an online empire of my own and realize that it will take hard work, patience and will not happen over night.

I have a product of my own under development but would like to get started with something that already exists from the WSO offers. Problem is, there are so many and it's difficult to determine what the quality products are. Do any of you experienced IM professionals have suggestions for someone just getting started in the business?

Much appreciated.

    Welcome!

My suggestion is to join the War Room - very small cost and you get shed loads of information in return. Well worth the money for a newbie.

    Spyder,

Here are a couple of suggestions:

First, you are right - it's difficult to determine quality when you haven't used or tried a product for yourself. That's part of the reason why there is a forum for WSOs. You can visit a given product and see what others are saying about it. That's not an infallible quality predictor, but it helps to see if a product has red flags at the outset. Beware that most posters haven't tried a product when they post in the WSO threads.

There is also a specific forum here at WF for the review of products (by name) so that may be another way you can narrow the field.

Another thing you might try is to send the product creator/seller an email asking for references by satisfied customers. If there is a long list you at least have others' concurrence on a product. If a seller has nothing and can't give you a list of satisfied customers, you may rightfully question why.

Second, I would suggest you look for a product in the same niche as what you plan for your own product. If you do that, you can begin creating an email list in your niche which should come in handy when you go to launch and sell your own product. The product you're going to be promoting (not your own) doesn't have to be a direct competing product. Just try to find something that buyers of your product would also purchase in the niche.

The best of luck to you in your IM,

    Steve

Most "noobs" have no idea what to sell when starting out, and this causes them to rush into staple methods like affiliate marketing and/or adsense ect.. Sadly those methods are not suited for beginners even though most courses would have you believe other wise...

By having your own product already, you have an immediate head start, you have something to sell, so you have a niche already, now start building your business around that product...

Build a site, generate traffic, and build a list around that product...

The fact that you know "it won't happen over night" is also a very good thing, most people just starting out do expect to happen over night, along with having a plan and final goal in place already, you also seem to be in the correct state of mind which is absolutely critical...

If I had to guess, I'd guess you're going to be all--right...

    Here is my simple advice:

Pick one thing (1) that you know you can get done and use to make some money.

The biggest problem people in the space have is jumping around to too many different "opportunities".

    Pick 1.
    Get good at it.
    Make money.
Then you will have the luxury of being able to try other things.

      Very good advice.
Jumping from one place to another is waste of time and resources.

I'd say it is a good idea to build a list of subscribers. You can then set up email to promote your own products and affiliate products and change any promotion whenever you see they are not producing results than the others. Keep track of everything and you will soon be on the road to success....

I recommend promoting a product already created.

Yes you may earn LESS than if YOU created the product, but your goal as a Beginner is to sell SOMETHING.

once you get your feet wet you can gradually move up to selling your own products and making more money.

I agree, find an already established product you can market as an affiliate. Then you can get the hang of the art of setting up a squeeze page, building an opt-in list, driving traffic to your offer, creating your funnel, etc. In the process, you can always work on creating your own product and plug it into the equation at a later date. Also, I want to say from everything I've heard about War Room, it has awesome value, but might be overwhelming to someone completely new to this. Think of all the distracting "eye candy" you already find here on the main site...! Even of it has great ideas, you can't implement them all at one time, and I think S.O.S. (Shiny Object Syndrome) is the biggest obstacle of all...speaking as one who suffers from it!!

    Hi,
What you need is a step by step process that will teach you what you need to do next. Start out on the right foot and you'll never have to worry. My biggest problem was knowing where to start and the steps that followed. I have been in your shoes and I know how you feel. PM me if you want to know more.

    Good luck!
