wordpress vs. orgininal coded site

Sooooo. I'm new to this whole internet marketing thing and I just paid some guy to put together a custom wordpress theme for me and it looks ******* awesome, but someone else said that my main website needs to be originally coded for it to do the best in search.

Did I **** up? Did I need a site coded from scratch? I'm young and think I will be doing this forever, so I definitely want a site that is right from the start...

It makes absolutely no difference...go with what you have, it'll be fine.

"Someone else" is blowing smoke up your butt.

A WordPress site will do you just fine, even in the search engines.

You have done the best tou could have by going with a cutom wordpress website, forget about anything else unless you need a super special functionality for some un thought activity, and even so there's probably a theme or a plugin for it. And you heard wrong, wordpress is one of the best solutions for seo. Very google friendly.

Why do people buy sites coded from scratch? Wouldn't it be cheaper to have a custom wordpress theme built?

Yes, it is cheaper to have a custom WordPress theme built. But, in certain cases, you would be better building from scratch.

For high traffic websites, WordPress can be a drain on server resources.

For specific needs, there are things that WordPress cannot do for you.

One of my older sites (thephantomwriters.com) was hand-coded from the ground up. I have never seen WordPress plugins that will give me the capability of doing what I did with that site.

One of my newer sites also needed some custom functionality that just cannot be acquired using WordPress as its backbone. I bought a clone software that resembled an existing website, then I started customizing the clone to my personal needs.
