Increasing list income: Build on things that work

I mentioned earlier that I found some tips on WF about list building and this has helped me explode my list building recruitment by over 1000%. Well, my goal is to double this to over 2000%. Lately, I've made some progress by tweaking my campaigns. What I discovered is that: YOU NEED TO BUILD ON THINGS THAT WORK and GET RID OF THINGS THAT DON'T WORK.

This may seem like common sense but in our rush to earn income online, common sense is often the first thing to go out the door. In fact, it's easy to KEEP DOING THE SAME THINGS and expecting a different result. Not only is that insane, it won't lead to anything good.

Pay careful attention to your STATS. Find where you're WINNING. Build on those. Duplicate them. Only 20% of the stuff you do produces 80% of your results. Make that 20% 100%. Get rid of the 80% that doesn't produce much. Get rid of it or delegate it.

Sounds like a good argument for split testing. Emails, landing pages, calls to action can all be methodically tested to see what's working and what else works better. Change one thing at a time and measure the results.

I think he's saying that 80% effort only adds 20% to your income so outsource/delegate that part of your business and focus more on the 20% that adds so much more to your income.

"Get rid of the 80% that doesn't produce much. Get rid of it or delegate it."... So you would outsource something that doesn't produce much? I'm just saying..

True, however there are just certain things in business that need to be done but are time sucks and don't add much to the bottom line. However, they still need to be done so find out what they are and find someone else to do them for you.

Do you even know what you are talking about? You test and tweak to find out what works right? Then you focus on what works and ditch what does not work.. That's it..

Ah, you're right Julius. I don't know what I'm talking about.

There are certain technical things I like to outsource such as Wordpress theme creation or web design for some of my sites because I'm just not that good at it. I feel those things are worth it because they need to be done for some of my niches however I don't have that expertise so it'd take me forever to do myself. Just one thing I outsource.

Sometimes I'll outsource the creation of articles for a niche because I need to put good content up but I can get a better bang for my buck having someone else do it than to do it myself due to the time it would take.

Tax preparations and legal advise are also things that are sometimes necessary for business however I don't wish to put in the time and effort becoming a lawyer and accountant so I do outsource those things as well.

I really do get what you're saying as far as only do things that produce a good outcome, more money, which is why I do outsource from time to time. I don't want to focus on something that would take me away from more important things like driving traffic or building relationships with my customers.

That is just my opinion, it may not yours and I respect that. I'm just trying to give some perspective on things that I'd outsource as opposed to doing them myself.

              Jon.

Hey writeaway you always give good advice and tips.. I'm just saying that I'd rather spend my time and money on what works, not spend any money outsourcing something that's going to bring me little to no results..

Get rid of things that do not work. There are other things that produce low returns but are necessary. You can delegate those. Instead of spending precious time on 'busy' work, focus more on the 20% that produces 80% of your results.

What is so necessary that brings low returns that I would outsource? Good luck with your ROI..

Thanks Writeaway - I get you and agree. I outsource the 3Ts - the 80% of tasks that need to be done but are either technical, tedious or time consuming.Of course any activity you find does not add to your bottom line or move you towards your goals - drop it!

I totally agree with you on testing and tweaking the whole marketing campaign. What is working right now does not mean that it will work well again a few weeks down the road. I think having the stats and analyzing it is important as it ensure that I will know which is the 20% that is working for me. Great post
