Hi all,

I don't know if this is the right forum for this, so feel free to move my post. I have recently launched a website for a word-of-mouth business I have been running for a few years. The problem is, I have no clue what to do when it comes to marketing (funny thing is, I work for a large marketing firm lol). I really want to come up with a basic strategy of things to do. I'm thinking of running an AdWords campaign, but I haven't been approved for AdSense yet (I keep getting denied for difficult navigation and not enough content). Unless you all think I should affiliate somewhere else? I've been backlinking my site everywhere and have made a decent SEO, but nowhere near spectacular.

Here is the website. I want to earn money on advertising and obviously gain customers at the same time. I've had decent traffic (50 new visitors a day/30% bounce rate) for my first week of launch. I'm also open to advice on content, layout, etc. I know this isn't the forum for it, but I'd be willing to give up equity if someone thought this was worth anything and could really help.

I really like your website. I think it's a really unique idea to help people construct their profiles. I've been trying to get into the dating niche. I have a couple dating communities. I think i could help you with marketing. You could find some affiliate products to promote I have a few dating ones I promote through clickbank. It looks like you have a lot of content t here, I'm not sure but adsense always does the same thing to me. If you want to know more or possibly team up send me a private message.

  • Datingmaverick,

Seems like you are on the right track. I took a look at your website and it looks ok. As far as promotion, I would using a combination of SEO, social media, and PPC in order to drive traffic to the site. You have a good start with the blog. Keep adding content there. Make sure it is useful to your target market.

Grow your network on the social platforms that you are active on. For example you can use Facebook PPC to grow your network there. The more you grow your network, the more people you have to share your content with.

PPC is effective but you have to be careful that you are using it the right way. Otherwise you are just paying for traffic (which is fine but expensive). Make sure you have a conversion funnel that lends itself well to PPC. For instance if you have a long sales cycle or products that require a lot of research before purchasing, PPC may not be as effective. Conversely if you have a simple signup form, you could leverage PPC to get people to the form to get them to sign up.

Site looks professional, though I find the landing page to be a bit convoluted. I recommend quickly skimming through GoodUI for some inspiration. Try to cut away whatever is non-essential and unimportant. What is the action you want people to take when they land on your page? And can you give them something for free? Do that.

Cheers and good luck. You look like you've got a sound starting point.
