Best way to offer free download file

I am wanting to offer a free download of PDF's to anyone who signs up for my mailing list. I am using Xiosoft Lead Generator for my list building and it does not permit me to include it in my auto-responder.

Is it hard to place it on a page to be available for download or should I just place it on a page and let others use it and fill out the forms from my page ?

Thanks,
Enterpryzman

I don't know anything about Xiosoft Lead Generator but, if you can't include a clickable link in your emails then I think that you are using the wrong system.

Perhaps you could be more specific in your question.

You may include a link however, you MAY NOT actually attach anything within the email...perhaps I was not clear enough, sorry.

If you are open to a JV I actually know how to monetize this. The customer downloads for free and you get paid anywhere from $1-10 (depending on how much you want, you set the payout) Shoot me a PM

Otherwise, just upload the file to your server: http://yourdomain.com/yourfreefile.pdf

Then put this link in the autoresponder email.

If you want a little extra security, put it in a folder http://yourdomain.com/hardtoguessfol...urfreefile.pdf and add a robots.txt to exclude that folder from bot crawls.

    Make sense?

you can always do as art says and include a robots.txt file but put the file in a password protected directory and include the password in the thankyou email after they have confirmed. You then change the password once a month to stop it being passed around the forums.

I tried a service today called gigasize and I do not like it...they charge a small fee to upload and provide a link. They then charge a fee to the person downloading if they want it faster, otherwise they make them wait 1-min. from the time they land on the page to download.

The problem is, I have no idea how to create a page of my own to do this and was trying to do it as simply as possible. I do have an account with bluehost and may try it.

Depending on your hosting, you can use your cpanel and then create a folder and upload the file using the "File Manager" icon. You can also use "Password Protect Directories" to assign a password to the folder. Good luck!
