Video hosting for a web startup's product?

I'm building a web startup that offers a video based product. So, video is the core of our business.

I'm searching for a video hosting service to broadcast our videos, but so far the ones that i found (Vimeo, Viddler,etc) seem to offer professional video hosting built just for marketing purposes, not for fully video based products.

I'm trying to contact the people of these companies, especially Vimeo (they have a Business service that looks promising), but with no success so far.

Am i rong on this? These video hosting services really can handle a startup's needs on the short AND LONG term (a.k.a can it scale properly)?

Yeah, host your own videos. Later you could franchise them out to Youtube and such, so to speak.

You may want to go with a higher level hosting plan, where there are less people on the shared server. Later, or straight away, you could go with a dedicated server. If you decide to go with cloud hosting, such as S3, that would be fine too. Usually more expensive to start off, but is scaleable for when the site usage grows.

Vimeo Pro offers No SEO features. Just hosting. Don't use Vimeo Pro.

Your best bet would be to host them externally. Videos are CPU intensive and the costs to keep the performance up with viewing & normal browsing will be higher as well. Offload the videos to something such as S3 & then find yourself a good quality host to host the website itself with.
