The Key to Success

Key to success is very general.

You mean key to internet marketing success?

Then there are many sub topics to that too.
Like key to success in personality traits? (ie- passionate, perseverance, optimist.)
Or the methods of doing internet marketing?
(ie- list building, jving, ppc, article writing, outsourcing etc)

I just feel like being a bit cheesy here. :p

The key to success is to find the right key that fits your lock.
Everyone has a different lock.
So logically everyone's key is different.

Mine is perseverance for traits.
And focus on quality, for method, i think it depends on what business or strategy you are using.

I would have to say persistence, perseverance and determination above anything else. Like you say, there are many different keys to success but if you don't have the determination, persistence and perseverance needed to get back up and keep going after suffering a loss or setback, then you won't progress very far. And lets face it, if you are going to set up an online business, setbacks are definitely something you are going to encounter along the way

In my opinion, success is multifaceted and will mean different things to different people. To me, success is being able to live the life you dream of, and being able to help others in the process grow.

For me and I agree with all the comments so far, is "Commitment" - meaning: You do what you said you would do, even when the feeling (state) you had said it in has long gone.
This applies to all situations, be it life, relationships, work [ethic] and IM :-)

In my opinion, the key of success is believe in what you do and then go for it 100%.
Most people, who fail, stopped believing before they fail.

The key of success is making your believe in to a fact, so that there is no doubt what so ever.

I feel the key is tracking/testing/troubleshooting

I know some people might feel that these are three separate things, but to me they are all a part of one process.

You can take action, you can be persistant, you can have belief and passion, etc.

But if you don't know how to track/test your efforts, then you will not know which actions are getting you the results you want and which ones are wasting your time.

Same with if things aren't working - we see people again and again create threads about having been in the Internet Marketing business for months, and years and still not making any money.

Why is that? They are taking action, they believe it's possible, they have passion, etc.

But I think one of the main reasons is they have no tracking/testing/troubleshooting skill.

They aren't able to desciminate between good actions and bad actions, high value actions and low value actions.

I truly believe it is one of the most important but most underated skills in IM.

Having no tracking/testing/troubleshooting skill is like sailers trying to cross the ocean without any navigation skill

Diversity and consistent research/testing in order to stay on top of the game.

Without doubt MINDSET is the key as it encompasses many of the factors to becoming successful like focus & determination, but you also need direction and measurement.
Without this combination you just don't know where you are or if you are coming or going.
You will get lost, confused and disheartened.
The train analogy is a very good way of describing this.
Those who do not plan, plan to fail.
You plan your holiday?

Take sustained, massive action...

The key to success for me is, stay positive, work hard and take action!
