Question about one on one mentoring

by nanohits 14 replies
Howdy all,

I would love to see a one on one training where an IM expert shows you everything and also helps in setting everything up and showing a newbie that entire process including picking a keyword, niche etc just as if he would do to start it and get the user on its way and once the users learns that, then he will get that experience.

Right now most mentors basically just shows some steps but not like getting into an account like for e.g how to create a paypal button or an Autoresponder code etc by actually going into the users account like wordpress etc set everything up whilst showing the user.

Would love to see someone doing that from scratch as if he was doing it himself. I would be most interested in something like this. I think a lot of newbies probably get into something and they get stuck and they give up. I have done that a few times myself, then move on to the next WSO.

Would they be doing something in the account creation process you can't do or figure out on your own? Usually, the value (if any) of coaches is in the strategies they teach not the detail work. See what I mean?

Besides, if you read WF and a few blogs daily, you would know enough to master your own little corner of the IM universe. FOCUS is the key.

I agree with writeaway - also no one on this forum would pay what it costs to get that type of deep and detailed training. Mostly I see folks on here looking for free information and they aren't willing to pay the price for success with time or money. Sorry that's just what I have experienced...

Believe it or not I bet there is a market for this which is untapped. When someone is new getting into something, a mentor or coach takes them every step of the way. You guys may be good at what you do so come on here saying focus focus, its easier said than done because you already know what to do.

Just like when you first learn to fly, the instructor doesnt sit there with arms extended and say ill point you in the right direction. The instructor shows every detail flies himself first showing the student.

My experience with the mentors is that you're using their expertise, knowledge and brain.

The good mentors that I've worked with did explain every step, however I had to complete the tasks myself. If I make any mistakes or have any questions, my mentor makes sure I'm doing things correctly.

It sounds like you're looking for a mentor to sit down with you and build a business for you from scratch while you watch? I'm sure there are people that offer such a service but it's not going to be very cost effective. Why? You'd have to pay more the mentor more than the new business could earn. If not, the mentor would be better off creating the new business for their own portfolio.

For example, lets say you hired a mentor to show you how to launch a WSO.

The mentor creates a WSO from scratch. Writes a report, graphics, copy, jv list, pre-launch, the whole 9. You watch every step...

Lets say that WSO is launched and makes $5000 in 30 days...

How much would you be willing to pay for the training? He's just made you $5000 by building that business for you. You've gotta pay what? Maybe $7500? Maybe $10,000?

It just wouldn't be affordable that way for 99% of people.

Traditional mentoring works and there are mentors out there who will help you with every step. Just make sure that you get a mentor who is genuinely interested in your development.

        Best wishes,

          Hmmm.
4DayWeekend, I could not tell if your post was meant to me directly. If so, to me personally, a mentor who just does it for you is a dead end. Then you have not truly learned anything and you cannot replicate what you have learned.

          Its kind of the principle
"Give a man a fish and you feed him today, teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

A true mentor teaches you to fish, they don't just give you a fish. And while I am sure there are a lot of people who just want to be given a fish. I would prefer to learn to fish for myself.

In my career in the offline world, I started out as an Admin Associate, in 12 years, I managed to become a Junior VP at a very large company. Now I had to change companies three times to get there. I worked 80 hour weeks and traveled three weeks out of the month. I gave up getting married and having kids to get there. But I also had very good mentors who helped me navigate unknown waters.

While things have really taken a turn for the worse for me and my siblings due to a very costly extended illness in our family, the work ethic and realization of the value of a good mentor remains the same.

If someone is willing to provide one on one mentoring. I am your girl. I have reached out to several members here on WF looking for just that. Nanohits, if you, or someone else, are willing to do this, please message me or post.

When I worked in Corporate America, I always sought out mentors. I would never have achieved the success I experienced without them. My idea of a mentor is someone who points you in the right direction, makes you think, and lets you make mistakes. That is how you learn.

I truly am looking for a mentor. Not someone to do it for me. That is just a dead end. If I don't learn how to do it myself, how can I replicate it down the road and build from it.

My site is a product review site for stethoscopes. I would love to learn and go from there. I would eventually like to start earning about $100K a year and am willing to do the work to get there. Maybe that means a suite of sites, that is fine. Whatever it takes to get there.

Unfortunately, I have run out of time with regard to my personal finances. My little site just sits there not generating much revenue. Maybe it is not a good product, maybe not a good idea.

I am open to someone elses' idea if mine is a bad one. I don't take things personally. If someone is willing to mentor me, I cannot afford to pay you, but I could certainly make an agreement of some sort of net profit split.

I'm sure you'll soon be able to find the perfect mentor who can help you out with those. True, not everyone of them do that. But in the many mentors in here, I'm sure there's plenty of them you will be fine with that.

That has nothing to do with "mentoring" at all: it's simply giving technical tuition.

Well thats what I meant then, coach, technical tuition etc. Mentoring may be different. All I am saying is there is no one doing this and I bet you there will be quite a big market as there are a lot of newbies around.

    Hi all,

I have started a site doing just what you have mentioned here. My businesses online are on auto pilot, and have freed up time to do live 1-on-1 coaching. If you are interested in learning more, and about myself, please check my signature. Many thanks and best wishes! -Chip

If you're looking for technical knowledge (how to set up a PayPal button, how to install wordpress, how to get an aweber from on your website, etc.) just go to youtube and google and search for free tutorials on whatever you're looking for.

After that, go try it. Trial and error isn't nearly as painful or slow as what some people would have you believe.

This is a minor hurdle. Information overload is common and can be overcome by picking one real business model to set up an actual online business that is reliable and then following it through, taking masssive action, using speed of implementation to gain momentum, and forget about all those "shiny objects" out there. Also, unsubscribing from lists that send you a different wso each day is a good idea as well

When looking for a mentor, everyone arrives at a different level at which they need help. I have the technical stuff down. That part I was able to find in books and teach myself.

The marketing is a little different. That is an art in and of itself and cannot be read in books.

I am looking for a mentor to teach me how to market my site. The site is built, links to amazon are there, amazon account set up, google analytics installed, etc. etc. databases set up at my hosting company, etc. etc. I just keep waiting for traffic. I have done seo optimization but still my pages are way down in google ranking. The form is being added back on to the site but at the moment it needed a little work.

So I have gotten through all the technical stuff and hurdles. But now my site just sits there. with no traffic.

I hope I don't sound ungrateful for all the advice. I have learned something from everyone who has participated in this thread. I am just extremely focused, know what I want to accomplish and am looking for the right mentor. After I get some traffic going to this one site, I hope to expand it to a suite of sites, all related to health care, and then begin marketing a suite of ebooks related to a variety of hot health topics, ie. breast cancer, obesity, diabetes, etc.

The first ebook is already written and I am working on editing it and getting it going on Amazon. But I would still have the same problem. How to market it, drive traffic to the landing page for it, etc.

Yes, there are a lot of WSO's and wow, people here are really cooking!. I have reached out to several of these folks as they certainly seem to know a thing or two about driving traffic and marketing. I am hoping to find a mentor to help me understand and build a plan to drive traffic to my own site.
