It doesn't even matter exactly what the rules say, there: they're so idiosyncratically and inconsistently applied and interpreted that there's no point trying to decide these things "logically" or "reasonably".

Even Blogger themselves openly admit that blogs are sometimes deleted as part of an automated process, without human intervention, when people (competitors?) "flag" blogs.

It makes no sense at all to let any part of your business, unnecessarily, be dependent on a site you don't yourself own and control.

The reality is that there are only really four (partly overlapping) groups of people (in "internet marketing") who use Blogger ...

    (i) People who are unaware of the unnecessary risks

(ii) People who imagine that those risks are all problems that happen "only to other people" and that they'll be ok "if they stick to the terms of service" (this is, of course, nonsense but a lot of people believe it )

(iii) People who don't know that you can have your own reliably self-hosted WordPress blogs without even paying anyone a penny for the blog, the theme or the hosting

(iv) Very few people who still imagine that "they must rank well because Google owns Blogger" (seriously, there are still a few people who believe that - it's also nonsense).

Damn, Alexa, you wrote that in less then 4 minutes! My guess is that you have a word document with a plethora of links to threads. :p

      ---

If you're planning to be in the internet game for a while, the best bet is to invest your money in a domain name & hosting. You'll get full control of your site, as well as the piece of mind that your website won't disappear into oblivion.

      Sorry for your loss.

Lol, ive been using blogger for years and love it.

      What you say is untrue.

Many tens of thousands use blogger without any issue. In fact its been stated that blogger hosts the most blogs on the planet beating out wordpress, tumblr, typepad and squarespace.

The real advice for this person would be to say stop trying to create spammy cpa sites and your blogger "BLOG" wont get deleted.

And advice on the blogger platform would be to say that the best things about blogger are also the worst e.g. easy to use, easy to setup and can get you up and running in a matter of five minutes or less...

Wow, and I thought I was a skepchick ... but you apparently think that all those Warriors who have had their Blogger blogs deleted without understanding why, and without being aware of having breached any of the terms of service, whose posts fill those ten threads I linked to above and 100+ other threads like them, are collectively confabulating or hallucinating? Ok, then ...

I'm sure. And many other thousands get their blogs deleted in the night without knowing why. Which would you rather use, a method where many tens of thousands don't have this problem but others do, or a method where nobody has this problem? Call me sheltered and protected, but it doesn't seem a particularly difficult or taxing decision to me.

I don't doubt it, if you say so, but most of them aren't marketers with monetized or link-building or list-building blogs, so that has nothing to do with it.

LOL - try telling that to all the people whose posts fill the ten threads I linked to above and 100+ others like them.

I use Hostgator, myself, and have had no major problems with them.

Hosting: The 'baby plan' is around $7 a month
Domain: Usually $10, but there's always deals going around for a few $$ off (I use Namecheap)

I also use Hostgator (among others) for hosting and Namecheap for all my domain registrations, and I like and recommend both. (Some Warriors had a little one-off problem with Hostgator the other day, and are not delighted with them this week, but I don't think my sites were affected at all).

Different people have different experiences and hence different opinions, and it doesn't really matter very much. (Price differences tend to be pretty small, too).

However, there are two things that I think really are worth knowing and taking into account ...

      (i) Stay away from "GoDaddy" and "1and1": as a search (here, or through Google, or however) will quickly confirm, countless people have had countless difficulties with these two companies, whose reputations here are truly horrible, and there certainly seem, by common consensus among marketers, to be many excellent reasons for having absolutely nothing at all to do with either of them;

(ii) Never register your domain-name in the same place where you're going to host its website (as long as you get this right, anything else you do wrong is probably going to be correctable anyway): http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7628717

After Godaddy went with their new servers back in 09 I haven't had an issue.

As for 1and1. No issue there either as to which I have quite a few clients using it for hosting.

I had a blog get deleted once like that. I had no idea why. I thought it was maybe because I had ads and I was not allowed to market affiliate programs. But certainly, this was not the case. Many Bloggers do that. I had years worth of posts and I had never backed them up. I feel your pain and am sorry for your loss.

It completely depends on the website you buy, but most run off scripts like WordPress that won't require you to know any coding.

A while ago I created, over the space of about 6 months, 14 Blogger blogs. They were going to be part of an experiment I had in mind and were in the 'build them up phase' so I was adding regular content but had not put any kind on monetization on them.

As far as I know they broke no rules and complied 100% with what I understood of the terms of service. The subjects were pretty general and not, in my view, in any way contentious.

Then one morning I woke up to an email from Blogger telling me that they had deactivated all of my blogs. Every single one was gone. No reason given.

I emailed support and was given a canned response that didn't address the question.

I emailed again and was sent a curt reply saying that Blogger reserve the right to delete any blog at any time without needing to give a reason, and that there was no right of appeal.

14 blogs and six months (of very part time) work gone. Just like that.

Guess which platform I will never touch again. Even with someone else's 10-foot pole.

If you were giving away pirated software or movies behind those content lockers, then it doesn't take "confirmation" to know why they got deleted, it only takes common sense.
