Which One Of These Ideas Should I Pursue?

Hello WF,

I've been looking to start up another website. Right now I have an iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch blog which is pulling in about 250 unique visitors a day after 5 months of working on it, and I'd like to expand.

My Ad CTR ratio is low (less than 1%) so I'm considering something non-technical this time. These are some of the ideas I've come up with.

  1. A blog on my favorite sports team. The team has a very large following from around the world, especially in the United States and United Kingdom. I would cover information such as news, add my personal analysis (have a national coaching license, so it's something I'm familiar with) as well as promote discussion and write blog posts inspired by questions I encounter. The advantage here is that I already have a social media following of about 3000 on the team, and this could easily increase with more effort put into it.

  2. The relationship niche. I'm not a big expert on this one, but I have taken a few psychology courses so I could work in a subniche around that - perhaps the psychology of pickup or attraction or something. I haven't thought too much about it, but I know there's huge profit to be made here. My ideal demographic would be males in their late teens or 20's - those who are desperate to find a relationship, and would probably be willing to spend money on products or courses in order to increase their challenges. The only problem here is that I'm only 17 myself, which I feel would make it difficult for me to connect with my readers.

  3. A video game niche. I know there's a lot of competition for this and it may be difficult to monetize. Instead of making it general, I've considered focusing on a few niche sites/blogs for specific games - and then perhaps connecting them in a network to a gaming forum or something, using the traffic I drive from the specific game sites to bring members to the forum. Gaming is something I'm passionate about, but if it can't bring money it's nearly pointless.
Which one of these ideas do you think I should pursue? Thanks everyone for your time and I appreciate any input you may have.

    Are you just generating leads?

If you are not making money on the first websites then focus solely on that instead.

I would just pick one that I know I would have plenty of ideas for content for.

Also one that I felt I could offer a unique refreshing twist to what is already exist.

And one that would not be very difficult to create multiple products/services for.

Never get bored with it is a huge bonus. Remember you could possibly outsource the work and do all 3.

    Good luck to you.

Yeah, I am. I made the mistake of not starting an email list from the very beginning, but since I've added it, it's been going slowly but steadily. I'm making a bit of money off the website, although due to the niche, Adsense doesn't do too well, although affiliate sales have been getting decent. There's only so much I can do with it in a day though, so that's one of the reasons I want to create another website.

I have lots of ideas for content for all 3 - and it is very possible I could go on to do all of them. Of course, I wouldn't want to overwhelm myself by doing all that now, so I'm trying to decide which I should start on first.

    Thanks for your input!

Men try to be more manly about it. But i believe if you come up with a good product some men would still splash the cash.
        Good luck!
True. This is definitely a profitable niche, but my concern now is competition - I'm sure there's a lot of it, which brings some worry. My current websites rely solely on search engines - I'd say about 85% of the traffic is organic. I'm worried about how I'll rank up against the bigger websites. But, I do have content I do believe can be unique, so I may be able to find a way.

It'll take a bit more work, but I'm sure I can find a way to appeal to both genders. Both are probably very profitable in their own way.

I agree with the ones who say that you should follow the idea for which you have content and can be updated at all times, because in the end, this is what brings views and you can monetize even if you have to wait a little.

    Best of luck!
