Hello Warriors,

Currently, I am promoting a clickbank products on bing ads through direct linking. I made my first sale two days ago. I am also doing email submit offers on 7search, that too with direct linking to offer page. I read everywhere that to get better conversions I should be making my own landing page for pre-selling and building my list.

Now, the doubt in my mind is that the landing pages of the merchants are created by professional copywriters. So, they would definitely be better than the landing page that I will create. I also fear that if i create my own landing page then I might drive the visitors away before they land on the actual products page.

Do you guys think that it is ok to continue with direct linking or I should start building landing pages straightaway? Appreciate your valuable suggestions.

There are 3 reasons your own LPs will do better:
    1. Your LPs are exclusive. The vendors own LP might be diluted and been seen by too many people already.

    2. You can design LPs that suit better to the specific keywords/traffic you are targeting. For example, the vendor's page might be about losing weight, but you can create LPs around losing arm fat, thigh fat, cellulose, and so on - different LPs for different traffic you tie into (this will boost conversions).

Also, don't overestimate the vendors - many of them have crummy, untested LPs that they don't care about because they know affiliates will be the ones marketing/spending the $ on traffic.

    3. The most important of all, on your own LPs, you can collect the emails/other info and build your own list while promoting the products at the same time. You'll increase your conversions, and create additional income streams with the lists.

@mithya - If your current method is sending traffic straight to a page you don't control without capturing a lead, you are going to have a hard time getting any leverage over time and getting a decent ROI on paid traffic will be more of a challenge. In short, you are leaving a lot on the table with the way you are currently doing things. (So, yes, create your own landing pages).

    No.

Here are two posts which will help you, I think, if you read them carefully ...

I think you're a little confused about what a "landing page" is. I know that you don't really mean "landing page". You mean either "opt-in page" or "squeeze page" (they're two different things, though "squeeze pages" are a subset of "opt-in pages") but I don't know which. I mention it because as the thread progresses, you may get answers which will confuse you further, from people whose understanding of those terms is totally different from yours. See if this post helps to clarify it: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7866952

In my experience, very few affiliate advertisers are actually split-testing their affiliate landing pages.

Hitesh93 makes some good points above - you should be using landing pages

Internet marketing is about creating innovative ideas and figuring methods to become the driving force in the product in you're promoting.

Many enter this business with the goal of being their own boss or "earning more money than the majority of people" - and to do that, you have to be the best. How are you going to come close if you're just using generic pages.

They may have a better landing page, but you'll only make one sale off each person you refer. If you actually collect someone's email and can consistently promote new things to them, they may buy something new every month for years into the future. I totally understand what you're saying, but in the long run, building your own list is more stable.
