From 2000 sent emails only 20 clicks

Hi all, I have a problem I am using "aweber" to send emails. I have more than 2000 emails when I send emails as "PLAIN TEXT MESSAGE" I get opens and clicks equally. For example 20 opens and 20 clicks.
When I send emails as "HTML" I get much more opens, but less clicks. For example 60 opens, but only 20 clicks... Maybe you know a problem?

How did you collect the emails? Have you been consistently communicating with the list?

There's a lot more to getting your emails opened than just looking at if they are sent as plain text or HTML. Also, how many times have you tested the open/click rates for plain text vs html?

I buy clicks and swaping. Yes I am communicated virtually every day. I am testing more than 2 weeks and I see only this result.

There is no rhyme or reason to why using plain text or HTML should influence open to click ratio. Like Chase Watts has said, if this is your cleaned op-out list with contacts you promote to on a regular basis, then you should see a similar result each time your send to this list or its simply that the product your promoting has no interest to your target list and ask them for call to action on if this is a product they would buy or have in the past and build your marketing plan accordingly.

Don't send me a plan to lose weight as I am a Semi-Pro Triathlete even though we maybe friends..................I will open your mail, but you will never see a click through.

    Cheers and good luck!!!

When I send HTML opens 2% but and clickings 1%, when I send TEXT MESSAGE opens 1% but clicking the same all 1%. Is html email looks same or different then plain text before opening ?

It's probably because "opens" can't be detected on plain text emails. Basically, opens are being "tracked" on the plain text emails because somebody clicked a link (that's the only evidence that can exist of them being opened because there is no other method of detecting that a plain text email has been opened). So "opens" will equal "clicks" for the plain text ones.

With the HTML mails, opens can be tracked (to an extent) independently of clicks, by the use of images embedded in HTML emails (when the HTML email is loaded in a recipient's email client, the image is loaded from Aweber's server and they record an "open"), and that's why those numbers will differ for the HTML mail. The reported open rates for HTML email are far from accurate too because a lot of people have images disabled in their email program due to privacy concerns.

In other words, you can't track the actual open rate of plain text email. You just can't because there's no mechanism to allow it. Consider the "clicks" to be the minimum open rate when plain text email is concerned. 100 people could open a plain text mail that you send out and if only 20 people clicked, that's all that would be reported as the number of "opens".

Actually, I don't think I'm explaining this as well as I could, so check out the following links to understand more about how email is tracked:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_...g_and_tracking

http://kb.mailchimp.com/article/about-open-tracking <<<-- this one is good and clearly explains why plain text email tracking doesn't work

Yes. This is my experience as well. Long time ago, I set up a 30 email autoresponder sequence but made them text only. No stats. I corrected that quick and now all is good.

Hi I think it is not effective to send the same emails to thousands people with different profile. I think it is very important to design email with message that suitable with your target market. Targeting your market is very important because you can know what their interests and design the best message to attract them. It is more effective just to send 300 emails to the right target market unless send 3000 emails to the wrong target market. Definitely I would not open email both in HTML or link that is not interests me.

    Hi,

Maybe it's because most subscribers are used to plain text emails
    as a whole.

If I was you I'd stick to what works and run with that!

You could drive yourself mad trying to figure this one out.

Just allow the numbers to decide what kind messages you should
    send.

    All the best
    Gavin

When you send a plain text message, opens=clicks, because the plain text message is not trackable by an image.

When you send an HTML message, it's a different case, opens<=>clicks, that means subscribers may open the message (it's tracked by "opens") but don't have to click the links inside your message (it's tracked by "clicks").

When I open an email - in Gmail or even in Thunderbird - it always comes up with images and HTML blocked out and asks me if I want to "see the additional images." If I click yes, I see the whole email as it was intended BUT...

If I'm scanning a full in-box, I really don't have time for that. Which means the fact that the email isn't loading as you want it to be seen the first time *I* see it translates to me skipping over it unless it was something I'm looking for.

With a plain text email, I see what you want me to see right away, with no extra work.

    That's just my perspective.
