Web Design Service Providers - A Question

So all Web Design Service Providers here.

Do you get businesses from your Web Design Service website or you get clients from offline methods?

Thank you

    Both:

A few people contact me from my web developer website.
A few contact me from directory ads I place.
Most contact me because of word-of-mouth from my current or past clients.
I send all of them to my web developer website, in the sense that a link to that is in every email I send.

    I use:
    Craig's List
    Local and county free directories
    Google Places
    Yelp

What offline methods work (besides word of mouth) for a web design firm?

Call businesses on Craigslist and tell them you will create a free mobile landing page for their business. Go to WSO and buy a $7 product that creates landing pages. Tell them you will txt it to them and it's completely free. Ask them what contact information (email, website) they want on it, that was you get the email and website.

It takes 3 minutes to create the landing page. You will have about 60 landing pages in a day. Text it to them. Follow up the next day and ask them how they like it. Tell them you can host it for $10 per month. Now that you showed them that you are a reliable provider and you have a high quality product, pitch them whatever you want.

Coldcall with a salespitch - 9 out of 10 will hang up on you.
Coldcall with a high value, unique product - 9 out of 10 will take you up on it.

The quickest way for me is through paid advertising. Bing and Adwords are great, and we're also doing banners on sites related to this niche.

You have to think outside the box also. Someone needing a webdesign service could come from a few related niches, like people who need articles written. So that's another venue to consider.

Or people looking for seo services. They're always interested in having more sites developed.

100% online. These days most new clients are referrals from existing clients.
