Is the online fitness market saturated?

As someone who seeks out niches and micro niches, I noticed that even on my countries TLD there are a lot of websites retailing products that fall into the fitness niche i.e. sports products/equipment and nutrition.

The thing is I checked the monthly search volumes, and it seems that for the fitness niche that the ratio of competitors to search volumes is high giving me the impression that this may be one of the worst niches to get into from an online retailer or ecommerce affiliates point of view?

Is this the case or is it a wrong first impression of this niche? Thanks.

If I was in that niche, which I'm not, I would try to get very specific about who you are/what you teach/what you advertise. The more competition, the more you have to do that.

But I would not say it's saturated. Almost any major category like that online has tons of competition.

If you know how to market online effectively, i believe you can make money in any niche - no matter the competition level.

If you are in that niche, you need to be better than your competitors. You should know well enough the subject to teach and explain it to your audiences better. You should also be active from every possible place your niche will be talked about for your readers to know and feel your presence.

A mentor of mine once told me that there is never too much content in any niche. I agree with Randall, if you know your market and how to market to them, you can be successful.

Instead of worrying about saturation, worry about the SPECIAL VALUE you add to your target customer's LIFE. If you are able to come up with a bang up solution, you will always come out ahead.

Stop giving yourself permission to fail by always worrying about the competition.

If you focus on a particular niche and provide better value than your competitors you'll succeed over time. Don't expect to make a ton of money right away, be prepared to put in a bunch of work. A lot of competition means there's a lot of money to be made so don't get scared away because of the many others out there.

High competition in a niche should tell you there is a lot of money being spent and a lot of money to be made.

You just have to claim your piece of the action - and there is plenty to go around.

    ESPECIALLY in the fitness market

The question I'm about to answer is so basic I almost feel silly explaining it. But, a competitive marketplace is a good indication that the market is desperate to find a solution so they will (and do) buy many different solutions. The weight loss market is so massive you don;t need a big piece of the pie to become financially free.

    Don't believe me?

Well, let me ask you this: "How many people on the streets know about Truth About Abs?" I'll bet you can find tons of people who don't know anything about that product and yet the creator makes $1,000,000 a month from that.

The bigger the market the smaller the piece you need of it and your competitors can be easily turned into JV partners and vise versus. I mean, why wouldn't they (if you're product is good) they realize no one can reach the entire market alone.

Others here have already nailed it.

There are so many ways to get traffic, you need not be concerned about competition. Competition is really only an issue if you are doing seo.

If there is no competition in a niche then there is most likely very little money in it.
I say go for competitive niches, that have lots of search volume and products to offer.

No niche is ever saturated if you follow out of the box strategies, I believe.

Being involved in a competitive market is good as this mean that there is money in the market. I will simply focus on my own marketing effort so that I will get my own small share of the profits.

You actually have a very nice niche. Keep on checking for the best domain name (and get a good EMD). Your thought on saturation is a misconception - if you look at it from an optimistic point of view, which I believe is what you will do.

Get the best keyword, search and search again, and get a good EMD. Then work on it. And you will be in business.

If we were to go by your logic, the WSO section is the most saturated section and no one should ever post something there anymore cause there are literally thousands of active products on it.......

As long as your approach, technique, service or presentation is unique, you will sell .....

My Amazon site selling fitness equipment as one of its micro niches is still averaging 2 to 3 sales a day so I think it is not saturated.
