Time management and Warriors

You know about a month ago I came to a conclusion.
I used to gripe about being here but in fact it is productive to be here.

I learn a great deal from everyone, either what not to do or what to do.

I build a list and the more I post the bigger it gets.

I am going to get on a time management software though. It has helped in the past and I am sure will help again.

So what are your thoughts about being here. I actually see money being made by being here, If I don't post I get a couple on my list, if I post to relevant threads I can get 20 or more a day. If I just post without looking at what I'm posting on I get around six a day.

I love the Warrior Forum. It's definitely time well spent for me as I learn so much from the many talented marketers here.

I'm with you on the time management piece, though. It really helps me focus on what I need to do in my business day in and day out.

    Jon.

Just installed activeCollab and looks very nice for a time management software, Something I bought back when and haven't used cause of my poor time management skills.

For time management, we have been using Replicon's online time recording software. I can make instant payments with this Software. As it takes only a matter of seconds to pay my customers, I have a portfolio of happy customers who look forward to work with me in the future.

Since we can all agree that there's really no such thing as "time management" - we can only manage our activities, not time - I'll suggest an oldie but a goodie in terms of software.

The Action Machine by Derek Franklin is a damn cool gadget that throws a software saddle on your daily routine and gets stuff under control by making evident exactly how much time you are or aren't spending accomplishing your highest earning activities..

It creates for you a "trusted system" in GTD terms (more on that below).

Naked link: Get Things Done! - The Action Machine

An even simpler ritual requiring no software at all:

A simple punch list of the 3 most important thing you need to accomplish the next day.. Then, the next morning - knock out #1 before you do ANYTHING else. Don't check emails yet, don't respond to phone calls... Do that ONE pillar activity that builds YOUR business first, then respond to the mania of the day.

Most important: if you haven't already, read "Getting Things Done" by David Allen

    Here's his website: http://www.davidco.com

You can grab the paperback on Amazon or your local Barnes & Noble for lunch money.

    Best,

    Brian

    Hey

I use Time Doctor for all my projects. It was funny since the beginning to analyse and found the unproductive gaps in my time management, but it really keeps me focused now. So as my virtual assistant

I have google calender down pretty good now. It shoots me a popup when its close to time to start something else and I set it up to send three. I also send it to send me and email during my email time to let me know it's time to get out of there.

There are a few open source almost as good as GC I am going to have one redone that will switch my task on the computer to where I am supposed to be at that time.

I don't know where that came from that we can all agree there is no such thing as time management because there is and I don't see many that do disagree with it.

You can call it what you want, task management, time management, productivity ect.
but it all boils down to managing your time correctly on here to accomplish the most in the least amount of time.

Even after 20 years I get information overload and with my ADHD with adult onset now and my refusal for medication because it makes it even worse. (I don't like being a zomby). I can be doing a piece on social marketing or posting on hub pages researching my article and all of a sudden see something that says how to make money...... and start to read it. This is what I have to get away from.

I didn't understand you point till I reread this again. Yes you are correct there is no way in reality we can manage time.

I am always in a theory mode. Please accept my apology for my inability or unwillingness to listen to your post the first time I read it.

        Thank you for your comment.

        LOL!

Brian, you are still as crazy and witty as ever!

Call it what you may, controlling our time and managing tasks are so very important if we want to move forward and reach our goals ... whether online or offline.

Thanks, again, for the info you shared. GTD is a great system ... I need a refresher course.

I all ways Learn and get ideas at WF. Plenty of it.

Regarding Time Management, I've my own point of view.

You've to conquer yourself to do what you've to do when you've to do it.

    Here's my personal system:

    1. The night before, I determine what I'll be doing the next day.
    2. I List & Assign Time for each task.
    3. I schedule 5' break every 90' work to exercise.
    4. I use a digital clock to control each task.
If a task wasn't finish, I may extended or go to the next one.
Usually, I don't go to the next task until the prior was terminated.
    5. I use an other digital clock to control the 5' breaks and Lunch.
    6. I don't deviate my schedule to answer phone calls, messages, etc.
I do that at lunch or at the end of the day.

Is the Warrior Forum helpful to browse and post in? Absolutely. I assume it keeps you veterans on your toes about new techniques and fosters a sense of community within our profession.

That said, you can reach a point of diminishing returns. Especially for those that suffer from SOS (Shiny Object Syndrome) it's important to remember that the two grand keys of success are not only plan, but also to execute.

I do make money, build relationships, etc., from being here.
However, I never use it as a way to procrastinate. I typically
limit my time on forums, and social media sites, and think of
visits almost as a reward for getting other tasks done.

I use to run a digital timer when visiting forums and social
media sites, as a way to remind me that I also need to focus
on other things. I no longer need that... my whiteboard in
my office directly across from my desk reminds me of all of
the projects that I need to get done

I do learn something new almost every time that I visit
    too!

Lol, it's not working right now. I have Google Calendar and have all the popups set. I had a simple program written to take my computer to the place I needed to be at a certain time.

I can not concentrate right now for some reason. I have alot going on and this is really a hobby to me. I may make good money but I would never bank my dollars on the net. The reason being is once I thought I wanted to open my own computer store. A do it all place, web design, repair sales and parts.
    Working 13 14 hour days.

Well guess what, when I got home the computer did not get turned on, nor was it turned on till I got to work and that was for work.

I no longer had a hobby, I had a job. I didn't like it, sold the store in less than six months and went back to Nursing.

I will get my footing again will just take a few weeks to do so.

As people have heard me yell here, most people are bound to fall. Until you have the motivation and the true mind set you will never accomplish what you need too.

I will wait, it will come back to me.

I'm playing right now and it's sort of fun, making forums and Facebook groups and jacking all the competition around. I have had a couple admins actually mail me and beg me to tell them my secrets how I'm building groups with triple there members in a month and they have been doing it years and don't have as many lol.

It's fun to be able to do something someone can't and they get mad cause I'm not even trying to make money off of it.

      Hustlinsmoke,

Not trying to sidetrack this thread, because I think this is related -

I wonder if there are Warriors who derive their full time income from being here . . . ?

There seems to be enough traffic and buyers here on the forum that one could cater to members of the forum almost exclusively.

Anyone doing that? or know someone who is?

Your not hijacking, this thread is done man. I got what I needed.
To your question the answer is yes there is. Some do Wso's weekly, monthly quarterly. Some drive traffic to there site here.

To the question though yes there are some, although they don't they use other methods also. Remember now when I say they do wso's, I do not mean they make there income on those, you give most your money away on those, there making the money from the lists they have built here.

Warriors is a mecca of great knowledge though.

You have to weed out everything that is trash but if you dig deep enough your time is well spent here. As long as you put what you learn into practice.
