Ideas to monetize free font sites?

I have several "free font" sites - all are 7 or 8 years old, all still draw traffic daily, even though that does continue to drop with me not paying any attention to them.

I've had Adsense on the sites for years, that's all I've ever had on them but they've never been big earners, and I would like to do better on the monetization or sell them.

Ideas? The majority demographic is 18 - 25 yo male with (you guessed it) little income. Overall traffic would be about 3000 uniques a day at this point.

    I don't know the niche, but I'm wondering out loud . . .

Could you become a affiliate for paid font sites? Here's one that I have purchased fonts from in the past - Letterhead Fonts

Another thought would be to create or become an affiliate for paid book templates, graphics sites (that also deliver fonts), and PLR sites.

The best of luck to you,

As mentioned above, you should become an affiliate for different paid sites. Along with being an affiliate for paid font sites, you can become an affiliate for graphic tutorial sites, graphic design how-to sites, etc.

You can do CPA that your targeted audience will mostly be interested in or offer affiliate products that go well with your service perhaps?

Thanks Steve - it's been a few years since I looked at the paid font affiliate programs - maybe worth a look again.

Yes, related niches - thanks for the thought!

It has historically been a difficult niche to monetize ... I find myself wondering what type of CPA would appeal?

Thanks for the thoughts though ... getting my thinking cap on!

Not many options other than selling a VIP/membership.. but that doesn't make sense for a free site.

And adsense probably sucks for that niche.

You could always sign up for a site like BuySellAds.com and get paid monthly for people to advertise on your website.

You could also capture email addresses by giving away a free font or graphics pack. Then promote affiliate offers to your list.

I would try to come up with some way to capture the email of that traffic. Then use CPL of some kind to monetize it. not all 18 -24 yo males are broke. Offer free templates for their email and then some type of backend offer even if its for a couple of bucks. Use that to pay for paid traffic for some better paying campaigns. Just a thought.

Amazon often has pretty nice "special bounties" offer for your visitors on the sidebar of your website. Something that jumps off the page at me while reading the special bounties on my Amazon affiliate page is that you can get $3.00 for every person you get to sign up for an Amazon Student trial.

This Amazon Student program gives students free 2 day shipping.

Basically your demographic doesn't have to spend a dime and its highly likely that many of them already have an Amazon account.

You could potentially increase your income by Hundreds to Thousands depending on your traffic.

    Thanks!

Becoming an affiliate marketer or selling something interesting for your visitors with paid membership could be your best options.
