Create an info product using all his knowledge. Or even create a membership site with tutorials made by him and charge a monthly fee.

That's a big market. Set up an info page/blog and add adequate products to sell.
Personally I would go for a blog (better and faster to rank, if you add fresh content regularly).

If your friend has zero skills I think the first thing he should do is sit
down and do ALOT of reading on some core IM marketing subjects.
SEO, affiliate marketing, adsense, CPA, article marketing, video marketing,
etc etc. He doesnt have to be an expert but he should at least understand
the basic concepts involved before he gets started. Maybe you could make
a list for him and get him started with some decent research.

by creating an awesome product with info from his knowledge in that field and launching it on CB or other affiliate platform and getting affiliates to promote it for him.

A lot of people are saying create a product first.

In my opinion he'd be better off learning to generate traffic first, and then learning to convert that traffic.

The reason why is he might spend six months creating a product and not sell one copy.

You can't just say create a product and add it to clickbank if he has no IM skills. He can't just cross his fingers and hope he gets affiliates.

Start with the traffic and he will be better off in the long run.

Not really to do with the thread but does he have a degree in that.
Just curious, I have a degree in Nursing and Sociology as well as a few aa
degrees but I have one in Holistic Health I got online.

yeah he can make money from that. newsletters ect. He needs that blog first though, it is also a great offline market there to to compliment the online market.

Who wants to learn IM skills just to launch a business?

If he doesn't have an inclination and/or desire to do IM, then it is ludicrous to think he can "learn it" first.

The obvious answer is that he needs to partner with someone who can handle the marketing side.

It is a compromise when you have to trust a partner, but without it what are the chances it will ever happen?

  • If he is able to put his skills and knowledge into words, set him up with a nice looking WP site. Then have him write content for it all day long.

Use that to make a list. Have him write up an informational product as well, and try to sell it.

    Good luck!

This like so many of the other responses is kind of jumping the gun and shows why so few people have success. Writing content won't make you money. Creating a product won't make you money.

Back to basics, you make money when you sell something, period, that's all no other way, ever. To do that he needs a group of people who are aware he exists and interested in what he's got to share. There are a million ways to share it and arguing whether it should be an info product or a membership site or a seminar or e-coaching, etc. is really kind of irrelevant because that's just the form of the product, which is pretty much the least important thing to worry about.

The quickest thing to do by far is to take what he knows and test it on his immediate market meaning people he knows, his Facebook friends, etc. Find out what people are interested in, what delivers results for them and what he enjoys. Use that to generate some money. This will give real market data about his market, which is the most important starting point.

Once he's done that he can create a variety of products around those areas that are yielding the greatest success and create some marketing targeted at his most profitable market segments. At that point he can begin building himself as an authority in the subject by authoring short books, doing guest blogging, PR, again the forms aren't so important what's important is this is all targeted at your profitable market, ideally these become assets to provide long term value and credibility. With this following and credibility he can look at all the other ways to start selling to that market as well as growing it.

I think we seperate IM too far away from everything else. In my mind I think of IM as any marketing on the web.

I don't think others though think that way the way people post.
