Rather than building a high PR network (which will take you time to get the sites up a high PR), why don't you spend a little bit of extra time and money looking into getting better quality links for your websites?

HostGator. I have many sites there now in their 5th year of successful hosting and am very happy, overall, with all aspects of their service, including at the time of their very brief, recent disruption, about which some people complained here.

Rather you than I. I think private SEO networks are a truly dreadful and very dangerous idea. They don't look natural at all. And if you look at what Google staff are saying in their occasional interviews, they think that too, and intend to do something about it in future/pending algorithm changes. Which does make complete sense, in the context of recent Penguin updates, surely?

If you're interested in rankings and search engine traffic for your sites, Spen, do you think that trying to do something that Google's so actively and outspokenly in the process of stamping out and penalizing is really a sensible/productive long-term (or even short-term!) traffic-generating plan for your business?

I think private networks are something to avoid like the plague. I know what an unpopular view that is, around here, because of course some members are selling services based on exactly that (and some of them are even quick to try to belittle anyone who understandably questions the wisdom of using these manipulative techniques, even though that does them more harm than good). But since I've been saying this about "private networks", on and off, it certainly looks like many such networks and the sites linked-to by them have indeed been heavily penalized.

My strong suspicion is that there's going to be "more of the same". There's nothing complicated or convoluted about my reasoning, here: I think that because Google is openly saying that there's going to be "more of the same".

I think one really doesn't need to be Einstein to see how dangerous and ill-advised this is. Just my perspective (and Google's, of course).
