The real question is whether it would have been better to send the traffic to a squeeze page that converts at, lets say 50% - and generated 500 subscribers?

So, it was cool to get a quick 100 bucks, but if you want consistent results you have to keep sending a hell of a lot of traffic to someone elses website to make money. You don't keep the leads.

In saying that though, I hope you monetized the product people are downloading so you can at least get a few more sales for another product, or at least have links inside sending them to a squeeze page.

Am I off the mark here?

Congrats on the $100 all the same. Will you use that cash to send more traffic to that survey website or will you use it to send traffic to a squeeze page?

retsced that is a great point!
PPD is usually used as a fast money making gig. But building a list using PPD is GENIUS!

You have to really think long term.

Hi abbesnwk, Congrats. Sometimes it is good starting with such online paying programs so it can encourage you to go for more better and long run online businesses. Some of us start from such like online programs.

I have a quick question about the pay per download/cost per action industry.

Aren't most, if not all the offers, shady? (ex. Do this survey, for a free Ipod). Or do I not know of any legitimate offers, from legitimate PPD/CPA companies, that do not try to pull one over on their 'customers'.

btw: I am still partly interested in earning from either of these industries, if I'm able to find a 'non-scammy' company to business with. (...especially PPD.)

Mate I'm not familiar with this industry... All I know it works in the way I did it.
I offered a quality product and it worked. I think zufiles.com might be something different. I don't know... feel free to try it..

It was just my experience and I believe is a great way for quick cash...if you need I'll use the money to get drunk (twice)

Ye, getting people on your list when downloading might be a much better solution.

Visitors needs to subscribe to your list before they can download your file.

A squeeze page that converts at 50%? - You'd have to be the copywriter of the century to do that.

He said he sent the link to his list, so your comment doesn't really make sense - this is one way you could monetize your list, I imagine his list sent the most traffic to the DL. The other sources he used to get traffic to the page e.g. Facebook can easily be re-used to target his squeeze page (he has most likely already done this..)

I'm pretty sure the product would have had up sell products included - it was a WSO after all

pretty good. I ound that when i tell people that they have to do a survey before they can access it, my conversion rate goes through the roof. They know what to expect and just grin and bear it. Sometimes if you havent said, people tend to thing "ah, another false download so they can make money"

Thanks for sharing your experience and advice. Little tricks and boosters like this idea are what CAN help beginners feel a little bit of success without too much struggle and strife. Its great if you come in already packing a list, with someone who can help you with an automation product, and pick some "hot" items to affiliate with, and make a killing, but most of us just starting are not there. Speaking of my own situation, I have no list, yet, but I have launched a product, based on accumulated knowledge from trying a lot of things that DON'T work. Rather than give up, I wrote an e-book, and am promoting my own product and seeking affiliates to help me get it out there. I am only asking 5.00, so it should be an easy sell. My primary goal is making the knowledge easily accessible to those who really need it.......
