How Would You Manage 7 Major Projects and Still Maintain Your Sanity?

Hello Warriors,
I'll be interested if someone can sincerely tell me how they can manage the following projects and still have enough hours in the day.
1. Maintain web design clients
2. Maintain an offline coaching class
3. Maintain family
4. Maintain a day Job
5. Carry out other marketing deals offline
6. Carry out other marketing deals online
7. Launching and marketing your new product

Focus. Keep the family and any one of the others. Ditch the rest.

Have a very clear goal to keep you sane throughout the long nights as I'm guessing sleep would be one of the things you'd have to sacrifice haha.

I chose entrepreneurship over further education despite being laughed at by my friends and family..

I recently hit the "RESTART" button on my life, read my personal blog to find out how I did it :)

Family aside, I would prioritise the rest on effort vs. return.

Your day job is probably your biggest earner, so don't lose that. If you could make as much money working those hours on any of your other projects you probably would have packed it in by now.

Then which other 2 or 3 projects are actually making you money right now? Ditch the rest, but maybe keep a long-term low effort project going if it's building your business.

I'm kind of in the same boat - day job, freelancing and a million ideas swirling around my head. I've given up all of my freelancing except 1 client who I really love working for and I want to work hard to try to keep, and I'm blessed enough to have sufficient income to indulge in a bit of internet marketing to build some future revenue streams. You can read more about my rationale and objectives here: About Me | Great Marketers
    - I just wrote it up yesterday!

Hope that helps in some way.

Some years ago I had 10 projects, non of them went well. I downsized it to two and it went much better. When I made my final choice for one project only, it went orbit.

Make choices and outsource or loose the rest.

You guys are really giving me great ideas. I'm suddenly realizing that, apart from family, I need to outsource all the projects I can outsource and hold on to my highest earner.
@Hamza, I love your revelation about Tony Shepherd. He seems to be a great guy.

Yes - outsourcing is a great strategy. I know I should, but I've never really tried it - I'm really bad at delegating!

You sound a bit like me.

First, Make sure your day job is not being affected, if your like me it's essentially my "bread and butter". Plus it pays my insurance, something that I would have to pay out of pocket otherwise.

Secondly, Set time aside for "family time". This is important, but also let your family know when you are working at home. It's best to have some kind of home office, and let them know when you're in there not to be bothered unless it's an emergency.

Other than you just need to prioritize. If you have customers/clients I think they should be your first priority as they are paying you for a service. If you can't take care of your customers then you are not only letting yourself down but the other person as well.

Other than that, I tried to only work on one-thing at a time. What happens to me a lot is I will start a website, and get it about 75% finished then think of another site and start on it before finishing the other one. Instead on one completed site I will have two unfinished. Which in the end only hurts me and my traffic, and conversions.

I think you're asking the wrong question...

The right question is "Why am I wasting my time with unprofitable ventures?"

Not saying this to be rude, but think about it... You still have a day job which means your side ventures aren't profitable enough to support yourself, much less hire a project manager.

Its time to clear your plate. Get rid of the baggage and focus on the one thing that has the greatest chance of replacing your 9 to 5. That makes the rest of it easy.

      I'd re-prioritize. #3 and #4 are critical priorities.

      Remove those from the list.

Re-prioritize the rest by profitability and time available (realistically) to work on projects. Choose the most profitable items and do them well instead of trying to do it all. There may be tasks you can outsource - but outsourcing takes time, too.

Others on the list can be slow tracked or put on the shelf till a later date. A family, a job and 24 hrs in a day means you have to make choices.

Until you can afford to get rid of your day job, it and your family are your two main priorities.

After this comes giving yourself time to recharge your batteries. Too many people operate at 50% because they are constantly tired.

Once these are settled, you will know how many hours you can devote to other activities.

Select one thing that you are going to concentrate on and become an expert in it.

If you have any spare time, work on becoming an expert in something else. This becomes your backup option. But only work on it when you can't progress your primary expertise.

To paraphrase a christian nun, when you eat think about eating.

When you pray think about praying and when you work think about working.

    Remember the old saying...

"Jack of all trades, master of none".

The moment you try and spread yourself wide over a number of projects, each and everyone of those projects (including your family) will suffer as a result.

Pick your best project and get rid of the rest. You need to focus or you will just end up with a bunch of mediocre results. It's much more powerful to just focus all your energy and time into the one project.

Have you thought of using a project management software?

There are quite a few top ranking online project management softwares to choose from including Clarizen which you can try for free and then has a relatively low monthly price.

You can investigate others such as Genius project, AtTask, Project Manager and daptiv.

Like others have already mentioned in this thread; it is important to be able to focus on the projects that are making you money, learn to delegate or pitch the ones that are draining you of time, resources and money without much promise of good ROI.

    Good luck!

A strict time schedule which i need to be on lol.
Like 7 to 730 answer emails.
735 to 10 do this ect.

Have a time schedule bet it would help.

I have asked this before but will again. Does anyone know of a time management software with like popups that show when i need to switch to my new task for the day.

Thank you and don't think that is hijacking since it goes hand in hand with your thread.

Wouldn't Google Calendar with Alerts at the beginning of an event work?

Same with apps or the calendar on your phone ?

If you have a Mac you can use Things

I use things app on my iPhone and just set alerts at the beginning of important tasks

Not sure if that might help

You know what I think something sometimes I overthink.
I do think that will work for now but I really want a program that will give me
a popup and say five minutes before starting next task. 1 minute to start next task, then when its time it stops my computer till I go to the next task.

Maybe not that dramatic but man it would be better than someone setting next to me popping me in the head saying get to work damn it. I just envisioned Frank Kern doing that to me lol.

Wow google calendar does stop me in my tracks. I set up a test and put from here to here check emails. I set the popup notifications.

Ten minutes before it was time, I was redirected to google calendar and a popup came up. I was locked there till I closed the popup. That is pretty close. Maybe I can get a programmer to implement a redirection to the spot I need to be in at a certain time.

I tried to thank you again but it wouldn't let me lol.

lol I thought you wanted advice on how to focus on your family, not whether to ditch them altogether.

I hope your new found focus works well for you. I've just gone through the same process and it's rather liberating. Onwards and upwards!
