How Would You Manage 7 Major Projects and Still Maintain Your Sanity?

Focus. Keep the family and any one of the others. Ditch the rest.

Have a very clear goal to keep you sane throughout the long nights as I'm guessing sleep would be one of the things you'd have to sacrifice haha.

Family aside, I would prioritise the rest on effort vs. return.

Your day job is probably your biggest earner, so don't lose that. If you could make as much money working those hours on any of your other projects you probably would have packed it in by now.

Then which other 2 or 3 projects are actually making you money right now? Ditch the rest, but maybe keep a long-term low effort project going if it's building your business.

I'm kind of in the same boat - day job, freelancing and a million ideas swirling around my head. I've given up all of my freelancing except 1 client who I really love working for and I want to work hard to try to keep, and I'm blessed enough to have sufficient income to indulge in a bit of internet marketing to build some future revenue streams. Some years ago I had 10 projects, non of them went well. I downsized it to two and it went much better. When I made my final choice for one project only, it went orbit.

Make choices and outsource or loose the rest.

You guys are really giving me great ideas. I'm suddenly realizing that, apart from family, I need to outsource all the projects I can outsource and hold on to my highest earner.

You sound a bit like me.

First, Make sure your day job is not being affected, if your like me it's essentially my "bread and butter". Plus it pays my insurance, something that I would have to pay out of pocket otherwise.

Secondly, Set time aside for "family time". This is important, but also let your family know when you are working at home. It's best to have some kind of home office, and let them know when you're in there not to be bothered unless it's an emergency.

Other than you just need to prioritize. If you have customers/clients I think they should be your first priority as they are paying you for a service. If you can't take care of your customers then you are not only letting yourself down but the other person as well.

Other than that, I tried to only work on one-thing at a time. What happens to me a lot is I will start a website, and get it about 75% finished then think of another site and start on it before finishing the other one. Instead on one completed site I will have two unfinished. Which in the end only hurts me and my traffic, and conversions.

I think you're asking the wrong question...

The right question is "Why am I wasting my time with unprofitable ventures?"

Not saying this to be rude, but think about it... You still have a day job which means your side ventures aren't profitable enough to support yourself, much less hire a project manager.

Its time to clear your plate. Get rid of the baggage and focus on the one thing that has the greatest chance of replacing your 9 to 5. That makes the rest of it easy.

This must be one of the classic "business killers" of all time.

Recognise it and stamp on it fast!

Remember the old saying...

"Jack of all trades, master of none".

The moment you try and spread yourself wide over a number of projects, each and everyone of those projects (including your family) will suffer as a result.

Pick your best project and get rid of the rest. You need to focus or you will just end up with a bunch of mediocre results. It's much more powerful to just focus all your energy and time into the one project.

Have you thought of using a project management software?

There are quite a few top ranking online project management softwares to choose from including Clarizen which you can try for free and then has a relatively low monthly price.

You can investigate others such as Genius project, AtTask, Project Manager and daptiv.

Like others have already mentioned in this thread; it is important to be able to focus on the projects that are making you money, learn to delegate or pitch the ones that are draining you of time, resources and money without much promise of good ROI.

Wow, all your replies are really great. I've decided to keep family and job and work on two others according to income levels. I'll be working hard to quit my day job by year end.

They can maintain all of it even their health is at stake its because they have lots of expenses, they are young and they are inspired to work.
