"Cheap" and "best" don't go together.

Hosting is not too expensive nowadays anyway, so if you need just basic hosting, then any decent company like HostGator, Bluehost, JustHost will be fine.

"Decent" and "HostGator and Bluehost" don't go together.

I fourth this. If you are willing to pay more, you'll get more features and support. HG had a severe downtime last week which was not a good impression for a well-known company.

It doesn't affect my site that much but you may want to check out liguidweb and digitalocean.com

  • Even though "best" and "cheapest" are relevant terms, I can only say that Hostgator has served me well for many years when it comes to uptime and support etc.

For unlimited space/bandwidth, look at Arvixe or Site5.

For non-unlimited hosting, look at Stablehost.

Whatever you do, avoid Hostgator/Bluehost/etc (EIG brands), Godaddy, Yahoo and 1&1.

    "best" & "cheap" don't mix.

If it's very important for you, I'd recommend NOT looking at cheap budget providers. You get what you pay for.

The support system also should be real trouble shooting and promptly .
What type of support are you looking for?

The average cost of a shared plan is between $4 & $10 per month. You spend more than this on a lunch for a day.....why cheap out on hosting if your site is important to you?

What are your requirements & what type of sites are you looking to host?

What features are you looking for?

Besides that, looking around you'll find the same questions asked over & over again. I'd recommend taking a look in the hosting offers section here: Web Hosting Offers

When looking through those offers, be careful who you choose & do your research on them, how good their support is, how active they are on the forum etc etc.

I looked at this a few days ago just to get an idea of what is currently out there.
It seemed like justhost.com was offering some decent deals around $5 per month
and I think they give you a free domain as well. I read some positive reviews but
do not have any experience with them myself.

I wouldn't neccesairly recommend cheap hosting. Personally i've had a very good expierience with HostDuplex.Very low latency, good location (network wise close to my customers) in chicago. $7,- /month for one domain, 10$ for unlimited

The two things I look at are ease of setup, and quality customer service.

HostGator takes the cake in those two compartments.

You can get a baby croc hosting for ridiculously cheap, and they have unrivaled customer support.

Be warned that Hostgator is having a lot of problems lately, due to having moved their servers to some other company.

Just read around on this forum and you'll see all the complaints people have been making about Hostgator.

Hostgator has for a long time been considered the go-to hosting company for IMers, but they have now lost that esteemed position.

They kept freezing my main money site for complaints that it was slowing down their servers. I did everything I could to make the site faster, but they kept shutting it down.

I then migrated to Crocweb, and I've had no problems since.

Cheap and best do go together.
Stick with ipage, hostgator or one of those guys. I'm thinking cheap is under 10 bucks.

P.S. I have had no problems with hostgator even though everyone is saying stuff.

    Hi Andrew

Do you think you will end up with multiple sites?

I like to opt for a reseller account, which has a fixed cost, and allows you to host unlimited sites.

I use Hostgator for international domains and Heart Internet for my UK based domains.

If you have a need for more than one website, I think it is worth considering.

    Hope that helps.

Hostgator may not be the cheapest but I have had nightmares using other companies. Like 1 & 1. Please stay away from them. Also stay away from Just Host. Miserable support. Also make sure you find a company that has 24/7 chat support.

Hosting Raja - plans starting from Rs 99 (approximately $1.5). I am using Rs 149 (Approx $2.5) plan - not the best, but decent in every aspect.

Gotta go with Yahoo Web Hosting on this one. The tools they give you to succeed are bar none. Check them out.

What tools? "Yahoo" isn't a web hosting provider nor do they specialize in it. It's a "me too" service.

Stick with a company that specializes is the service you're looking for.

The best, in my opinion (I've used over a dozen of the major players over the years), is Media Temple (for dedicated servers) and Media Host (for dedicated servers and shared hosting).

As far as the cheapest goes.... I have no idea. My philosophy has always been, "you get what you pay for".

I demand reliability, service, and lot's of bandwidth. There is absolutely no such thing as "unlimited" bandwidth. If a company claims that, they are lying, period.

Take hostgator for instance, if your sites have never been shutdown for using too much bandwidth, it's because you don't have a hundred plus sites getting traffic, or never had a site with big spikes in traffic. I question what you call success, or good service.

If you're serious about making money in this business, then don't skimp on your hosting. I learned that the hard way.

      Review? What review?
"I like them, they're great!" isn't a review of any kind.

All I see is more "top 10" type affiliate spam.

Cheap and reliable hosting is available from obhosting company.
Their services are resourceful and support is active.
        Just my two cents.

That pretty much summed it up anyhow.... Basically, the same as below:

I've been with the website hosting company for years now.
I highly recommend them. I have 20 websites with them and have experienced very few problems.
One problem I have NEVER experienced is their GREAT customer 24 hour a day seven day a week phone support.

LOL, cheap never become best, personally i don't trust many other hosting beside hostgator.

when using a hosting service what we want is stable and peace of mind, this is what a cheap provide can't give.
