Email Marketing: Follow-ups or one-time?

I recommend having at least 30 days of follow up emails loaded into your auto-responder...

All 30 days don't have to be done at once, you can work on them as you go.

BUT.

I also recommend sending LIVE broadcasts, preferably once a day. May seem to much, and a lot of people might not agree, but I've been doing it since 2005 with great, consistent results.

Yes. (These are called "autoresponder series emails".)

Do it automated with your auto responder. It makes no difference if they get it all at the same time. If and when that list grows large and I don't mean very large, with everything you need to do you will be going out of your mind doing it manually.

To add to Alexa's comment,

If you are asking people to sign up for a newsletter, then you could just do broadcasts. You can also link to the previous broadcasts at the bottom of each newsletter.
But for other types of business you should have a standard set of follow up messages that are automatic. You can then additionally send out broadcasts as the spirit moves you.

If you are just getting started, then focus on creating
your follow-up sequence first.

However, over time, you'll want to take advantage of
adding broadcasts to your e-mail marketing mix.

Both follow-up autoresponders and real time broadcasts
have their own strengths and weaknesses amd each have
their place.

The idea of using just one or the other (long term) will
adversely affect your e-mail marketing results.

You'll learn when to use the right tool for the right job at
the right time.

For example. follow-up autoresponders are great for giving
your subscribers predictable messages about you, your
material and your offers.

Broadcast e-mails are particularly useful when you have
to deliver more timely messages like current news and
time-sensitive offers.

Because you are new to email marketing, an autoresponder is the first thing you need so you can gather leads and send them emails. As mentioned above, both have their own pros and cons and both of them should be used. In your marketing journey, you will make mistakes and learn more and you will determine the right time to use them.

I don't see the dispute in this.. from my point of view follow-ups are a must - they complete your story; it's like a story that you tell in episodes, and you should be careful about this - bringing real value and linking the follow-ups to each other and to your squeeze page.

Then, you can broadcast at anytime - whenever a new product appears or news hit the wires.

I don't see why these two approaches should exclude each other ?

The more, quality follow-ups you have, the better the relationships you build. Aim for that, then promote and send broadcasts. people that value, your emails/materials...shall buy more in the end.

Now, that gmail has added..it's new tabbing system, make sure that people look forward to your emails and check the promotions section.

The initial emails should be in an autorespo nder but every once in awhile you will come across something good or gain a new piece of knowledge and I would create additional emails as new things come along. Give it hte personal touch. I remember one marketer who used to do this and I looked forward to these emails and their insights.
