Hello fellow warriors, I am a young student who is looking to get into IM.
I have somewhat of an idea as to what I would like to do but I would love some advice and I also have a few questions.

My targeted niche for all of my ideas is the MMO niche.

My first idea was to have a basic landing page with an opt in to create a list, which I would then email free e books before beginning to send affiliate links.

My second idea was to create a blog about being a young Australia entrepreneur, which I would make posts about my progress. I would also have some sort of opt in on the blog to create a very similar subscription system as in my first idea.

My last idea was somewhat of a hybrid of my first two, but I’m not sure how I could incorporate the two together, maybe have them opt in to get access to the blog?
Advice on those three ideas would be great, and any further suggestions are definitely welcome!

As for traffic, I would like to start with YouTube videos and maybe videos on other video sharing sites. The video will be pretty much just a pitch to go to my site. I then think the next move would be solo ads? Is that a good next move? After I see some free traffic I would like to get into paid traffic so I can expand.

As for affiliate programs, would I be better off with only one, such as clickbank? Or maybe multiple, Jvzoo + Clickbank?

For hosting the site I will most likely go with HostGator, as for registering a domain I’m a bit unsure of the process and is where I definitely need some advice. I plan to use aweber for the autoresponder and will aim to make my website/blog with wordpress as is it seems easier for beginners.

So what do you guys think? Is there anything in particular you think I’d struggle with? Like is using aweber hard to learn or is wordpress harder to use than I expect?

I know this is a large post so thankyou to anyone who does take the time to read it.

Just get your domain from Hostgator if you're going to host with them. Saves having to match nameservers. Get some Adsense or other pay per click up on your page as well to increase your income.

Thats a great idea, I think people would really be interested in a teenage entrepreneur and the steps he takes throughout life.

You should add lots of social networking features such as FaceBook and Twitter.

    Good luck on your journey!

    Darcy,

If you're going to enter the MMO field as your initial foray into online marketing, I think you're going to be disappointed in how that market treats you.

    Why?

Prospects in that niche are seeking help, advice, products, systems, and mentoring on how to make money and they expect to be helped by those who know to do it because they have done it themselves.

Would you buy a fitness product from a lazy, overweight, couch potato?

Would you pay someone heavily in debt for a product about getting out of debt?

Unless you're going to try to fake it, which is never a good idea, how are your going to show others that you know what you're talking about?

How are you going to sell yourself and your products when you can't show that you have any experience in making money online?

I don't want to put a damper on your enthusiasm - but you need to go into this with your eyes wide open.

    Good luck,

    Steve

Thanks for the insight and I totally understand what you mean as it something I have asked myself. I think I will attempt to show what I do hopefully to successfully make money online. I will try and steer away from just advising people to do x and y and instead show my steps in sort of on-going progress report. Hope that makes sense and thanks for the help!

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

I wouldn't worry too much about the little details- just try everything and learn as you go. I would take the hybrid approach. It's very important that you DO stuff, and then describe what you've done, and what you've learnt from what you've done. That's what makes a compelling blog.

So set up that opt-in page, and then blog about what that's like. Blog about what you're expecting, what you're worried about, then blog about how the response is, and what you're going to do differently, etc.

Always nice to see young people who take ownership of their learning. Good luck, Darcy!

It's pretty easy to get set up. The hardest thing I find is finding a good solid way to generate targeted traffic to your website or blog. You could have the most content rich site on the net, but if nobody knows about it then no cash will roll in. You have a pretty solid list though. Exactly how I went about it and I'm making steady progress.
