Whats your experience with Freelancer.com like?

I just signed up to here a couple of weeks ago to see if I could source some extra clients for my offline business. Websites and apps etc

I found that the design jobs get filled very fast and people quote stupidly low prices to get the job.

Anyway found a few suitable ones and bid for my price. I got accepted for a design job for an business diary design.

I was interviewed and then we chatted over Skype. She agreed to pay on recieving first draft and rest on completion.

I sent over first draft but no sign of payment.

I have also had another similar experience with another employer there

Anyone else had experiences like this? If the employer is verified payer can freelander debit the amount from their account?

How does it work?

So you meant you use a website like freelancer.com or you handle the deal yourself? If you're with freelancer, elance, odesk, you can report this.

I never had a sound experience with freelancer.com.

I signed-up for an account there like 4 or 5 years ago. Most of the bidders are crazily bidding prices as if they're eating grass for breakfast and they don't need money. Crazy prices that are almost close to working for free.

I once asked my clients if they tried hiring freelancers from that crowdsourcing site. Most of them, for the record, had awful experiences, too.

If I were to choose between between freelancer.com and odesk.com, I'd bet for the latter.

I agree, prices are ridiculous. But no one force somebody to apply. Besides, for people who bid VERY low, it can make sense considering from where they come.
I heard dozens of stories about people with unfinished gigs for low prices.

After all, you get what you pay. So beware...

I don't understand Freelancer.com. Have the same problem with them. Why not try other site such as odesk and onlinejobs.ph(Filipino freelancers).

It`s not entirely true.. I`ve found some great gigs, especially as a buyer there.. you will send your drafts to people and you won`t get a response to most of them, but once you find a gig and do your job great, you`ll start getting projects

I got no much experience with Freelancer.com but i have heard many of my friends complain of the same challenge with freelancer.com.
Why don't you try other sites like oDesk and Elance?
Personally i have worked and still working with oDesk and i have never had any challenge getting paid.
I am just OK with it.
