How do I find good forums in any niche?

Hi, this is Max. I wonder if there's an effective way to find high quality forums in a niche for traffic and back links without wasting too much time? It exhausts to pick up a list after list of them I find trough Google to check out and see that all of them are not trafficked or shut down or those I'm already in. How do I discover country specific forums like webmaster forums list in India for example? I've got a virtual assistant who's ready to rock. Any solutions? Thanks.

  • The Biggest Boards - Size Matters

Thousands of forums listed there and you can sort by almost anything you can imagine. Search by niche and you'll almost certainly find something.

    Good luck!

I just tried this resource and it was horrible. Is there any other recommended resources?

You should also check out "Big Boards" also. They have a ton of forums in almost all categories, and each one has to have at least 500,000 posts, or they wont be accepted.

I tried to sort according to category and it simply does not sort. Same results no matter what. Looks like it may no longer be supported. I see a July News 2008 headline

I am not sure what you mean here. But, for example, if I look for forums in the golf niche I type "golf forum powered by vbulletin" (without quotation marks) You can replace golf with whatever your niche is.

The reason I use "powered by vbulletin" is I am familiar with that forum solution and it is easy to see if signatures are accepted or not. you can replace vbulletin with whatever forum software you like

Have you tried using the google search options?

After you've entered the keyword you can set the results to being country specific and only from forums.

Just choose the 'Discussions' tab on the results page. Under 'Search tools,' change from 'All discussions' to 'Forums'.

    Hope this is relevant

    Max,

You can usually find a good quality forum by doing a search on Google for the:

Keyword+forum (Example: Dog forum, motivational forum.)

The forums that are on the first page, are pretty decent and get the most traffic.

Besides the steps outlined above, I suggest an added step

Feed the domains of the forums you find into Opensiteexplorer.org

    Look for high DA sources

Also, if you are looking for DIRECT traffic, feed your results through Alexa site info so you can get a ROUGH idea re their traffic volume.

I would definitely use Google with niche/subniche/niche-keyword + forums

Or you can use any aggregators like people have mentioned here but I would still use google first

    Hi Max!!

Forums are a great way to gain more exposure online! .. it is great to see you implement this strategy!!

There are a few sites that I have used, to find different forums online.

    Have you tried these sites:

    boardreader.com
    omgili.com

These are great sites to search for forums in any niche.

You just have to take the time to do a research and find the forums you want to use.

    I hope this helps!

    Keep up the great work!

Obviously just googling "{niche name} forums" and variations of relevant topics to that audience will be your first step, but if the community is in your opinion big or engaged enough but nothing out there is servicing the need, why not create a forum yourself? Quite easy to do these days and you could literally dominate the expert space for your market by being the most popular forum in it. Just a thought

I built www.findaforum.net back in 2013. I included most of the big-boards forums plus a few new ones.

I also included a bit of data that I thought might be useful, like whether a forum solicits donations (cheap advertising 4 U!!!), and whether it uses AdSense. There's also a search facility.

If you've got a forum, submit it and I'll try and add it sometime.

If there isn't a forum in your niche, then start one! I've had really good ad conversion on mine. On the downside spammers and scammers are a nightmare. For this reason a lot of forums are closing down [this is also a good business opportunity, especially if you have a programmer to help you outwit the spammers].

I've also heard more discussions are going to social media, but forums do have their die hard audiences.

FYI the cars niche is about the best one for us little guys. You can get stacks of traffic and it's easy to monetise.
