Great link building competition idea

Hi I run a fanpage with over 1 million fans as well as a forum where these fans gather. I am wanting to get my site on the map and especially in Googles eyes.

I want to do a competition that will attract links to the site. I am willing to put money in as a prize but just need a good idea?

    Sounds like you want to use a technique known as link baiting but are unsure how to go about it, correct?

    Whatever you want to call it I just need a competition that will gain me links to my site. Any good ideas?

    Without knowing a little bit more about your site and target audience its hard to give you an exact answer.

    What I often see is people running a competition as you describe is by rewarding either "points" or "chances" for doing a certain action. Person (s) with most points wins or enter their name in a raffle style drawing. Number of times they enter depends on how many chances they got.

    Get points for things like.
    Facebook shares
    Facebook like
    Following your twitter
    Make a tweet with you/site mention
    retweet one of your tweets
    Follow you on tumblr, blogger, etc..
    if they have a blog.. points for site mention..

    Can go into more detail if you need. Kind of gets hard to track everthing so it may be a good idea to create some sort of scorecard to share with them via Google Docs

      I am looking for more of a link building idea. I am thinking about running an idea where i write a post about top 10 blogs in my niche then my fans vote for the winner

      I could use a poll plugin and tell the blogs they are in the running for the award. Make a nice award badge they can add to their site with a link back to my site maybe?
