I'm looking to liven up my sites with a few images for personality. Does anyone know where I can source free images?

  If you are using Wordpress you might want to try this plugin - Picture Finder - once you install it there will be a little icon above each post that allows you to search for images and add them straight into the post.
  
  I think the plugin sources the images mostly from Flickr, but the good thing is that each image is already credited with the owners name and URL etc. You might not find all the images you need, but it is worth adding to your toolbox.

Use Google's advanced image search, and select the option under "Usage Rights" for "free to use, share or modify, even commercially"

That being said, most of them come from Flikr Creative Commons, so you may also want to have a look at those as well.

creative commons search is the way to go. This will enable you to get pictures for personal and commercial use.
