Hello,

I'm a struggling college student and I have 200 in funds to start something. I just need to make 500 a month to live. Does anyone have any ideas. I'm just a normal full-time college student with a part-time job. I'm a newbie...

Keep reading through this forum and keep learning

You first need to find what you'd like to do, blog, sell a service, sell physical goods.....

P.S I just sent you a private message

I chose entrepreneurship over further education despite being laughed at by my friends and family..

I recently hit the "RESTART" button on my life, read my personal blog to find out how I did it :)

  • The easiest way to make $500 per month online is by offering a service. Writing, graphic design, web design, translating, whatever.

Once you have some regular income from that, you can branch out and find other ways to earn.

Thank y'all for the replies. How would I go about offering a service? What would be the best approach?

Depends on what you are wanting to offer.

First things first: Sit down and write a plan out on paper.

What do you want to do? Start researching other local services being provided offline, and seeing what IM'ers do online. What appeals to you most, and what are you good at? What service could you offer to others?

Offline: you can do manual jobs like shoveling snow, raking leaves, etc. Babysit. Run errands for shut-in people. That sort of thing.

Online: the sky's the limit. You could do internet marketing (ideal, really, since you're not bound to a time clock..but don't expect instant results financially.) Or you could offer services for others. Can you write resumes, build websites, offer to do online ad placement for businesses? (Cost - Vary, depending on what equipment you already have. You might be in business, if you already have a computer. Other services might have their own cost...for instance, a snow shovel if you are going to shovel snow...etc.)

Whatever it is that appeals to you most, research what others who do those services seem to be providing and you can price your own service competitively based on their estimates. (Research: free)

You already know what you want to make. How many hours a week will you have to work to make that amount? This will also help you decide what to charge. Obviously, it has to be somewhat realistic, or others wont want to buy the service from you.

When you make the website, include a description (your online "brochure," if you will) that describes what services you provide. Website: $50-100 for a year. Or you can get monthly web hosting for around $10-12 per month. You can also get your own domain name, which I would recommend, for $10 max.)

Publicize your website and services by making business cards, asking others you know who might need the service (word of mouth), post flyers at your school and dorm, posting free ads online, etc. (Nominal cost: Printing the flyers. Check out a copy shop for a good deal.)

If you want to use paid advertising, you could spend any additional funds you have on that.

You have gotten some good suggestions here. I will simply add the following:

If you are a good writer (and very detailed oriented) you might want to earn some extra money online, as an article writer.

You would need to go to each site (such as iWriter, Fiver or The Content Authority) and sign up.

I happen to know that The Content Authority needs Ebook writers, in addition to article writers (in case you're interested in higher pay)

If you do work for iWriter and accept one of the "higher paying" gigs, you have t/b careful to communicate with the buyer - I say this as I've noticed some will easily reject articles (once you've put the time in) ..

So just FYI - and good luck!
