How Can I effectively promote a travel website other than social media

I would like to know should i promote my site by using ppc ads or go straight seo? I do not want to use facebook or any other social media platform because i tested the waters with that and no one goes to facebook to buy plane tickets or book hotel rooms. I want laser targeted traffic where people are pulling out there debit cards ready to buy. And yes I have already made money in this nitch but not consistantly though.

If you want laser targeted traffic where "where people are pulling out there debit cards ready to buy" you might have to pull out your debit card as well...

    ... and buy PPC traffic.

You can actually promote a travel web site using Facebook. You have to do it the right way though. You are correct is you say "no one goes to facebook to buy plane tickets or book hotel rooms". On the other hand people do accept tips from Facebook as far as travel and hotels are concerned.

Imagine there is a nice story on facebook about a fancy hotel and pictures etc. People show it to other people and some might actually decide to book their next vacation in that hotel. Now, if that story would somehow start on your Facebook fanpage and continue on your travel web site you might actually get more bookings than you think.

What kind of travel site is it? A review site? You could always do SEO but it's hard and takes time to get results. PPC is instant but you need to know your epc's to know how much you can pay for each visitor

You can use forums. There are so many forums for travelers and travelers are usually active there because they like to share info among other travelers. You can either have threads there or rent ad spaces, post articles in their specific sections, look what's possible to do in that certain forum you want to use.

      DeeBee23,

      Just think for a moment.

How many web sites are there online that deal in the travel industry, but don't specifically offer the booking service or links that you do?

Millions and millions and millions . . .

Can you identify who the top sites are for your keywords? Of course, it's easy.

Can you identify which of these sites get the most traffic and accept paid advertising? Of course, all you have to do is visit their sites.

      There you have it . . .

The highest ranking sites in your specific niche, that get the most traffic, that accept advertising and you have a non-competing proposition.

What more could you ask for?
