Gmail update screwing me over..

The new gmail tabs are cool and all but now all my follow ups from aweber are being placed in "promotions" even though most of the emails contain links to free downloads or links to posts on my blog. How can I get my follow ups sent to my subscribers' primary inbox? There must be some way to get around this.. please help.

Thanks,
Mike

I believe gmail is searching for footprints within the email. Likely it the unsubscribe links that are filtering the emails into the promotions folder.

All of my testing says this is incorrect. It is purely as simple as an auto responder sent mail going to promotions. I have sent emails form my own addresses with the unsubscribe links, modify subscription links and lots of affiliate links in mail to test and they all made it straight to primary.

If you want your mails to get into primary you need as suggested above a self hosted auto responder or manually send your emails from your subscribed list with your own email address. Make sure you include unsubscribe links though to comply and don't mail your unsubscribed or unconfirmed list.

I thought their aim was at eliminating the competition, so they can stick their own ads in the emails

A big website sent me an email the other day, asking me to reply to one of their emails, with anything as little as hello, just so their emails don`t end up in the promotions tab anymore.. I don`t know if it will work but they sounded serious about it..

Aha now thats a work around I hadn't tried. Could well work as a reply usually renders the mail important in most software packages.

As soon as Google start realizing people are doing this, they'll use the "unsubscribe links" to send everything to promotions.

Just tried replying to one of my follow ups and then sent a test follow up to myself which went right to primary.. looks like that actually works! Now I just have to send a broadcast to my subscribers telling them to reply, hopefully most of them will find the email. Thanks!
