How much content (New web pages) does the average person create everyday?
Are there any studies anyone can point me to about this kind of data?

IMHO, everyone has their own capacity and plan. Some of them want to optimize in quantity, some in quality. Some need high SEO, some don't. But for me, creating 1 article per day consistently with high quality content, good SEO, you'll be good to go in the long run. Some people can reach this kind of quality with 3 articles daily but it needs serious commitment. If you can, then do. But the key is to be consistent.

I have a lot of wordpress blogs which which I use to rank in a variety of niches. I use them to build an audience and then redirect to one of my own products or an affiliate offer. To rank I post a 400+ word post 2-3 times per week for the first month too six weeks. Then once the site is ranked highly I post around 1 400+ word article per month.

  • I write 10-25 article per day typically, but most of that is for clients. lol. For my own site I am currently writing 1-2 posts per day (500-1000 words). That's just because my site is new. Once I've got it full of content, I'll drop it down to 1-2 per week.

As a couple of people have indicated here already, there is really no average for content production. It is all about your goals, how much time you have, and what stage you are at with your site. Some people need to post every single day, but these are usually short news type posts, while others post one long epic post each week.

You need to determine your content goals and what strategy would benefit your audience best.

    Good luck

My best was 16 400-word articles in a day under tight deadline pressure and working more than 12 hours. But my average is 8. Now I am writing 4 800-1000 word articles per day. Sometimes, it depends on your knowledge of the topic.

    Hi Kevin!

Because IM is currently not my full time job, I try to post a 400 word article 2x a week. This way, I'm keeping things fresh on my site and keeping Google happy seeing fresh, new content on my site regularly.

I write a 500 word blog 5-7 times per week and 2 500-700 word articles per week. Then as many videos as I can fit in.

I can do 25,000 to 30,000 words of original content daily. [If it's a content writing day on my schedule]..

Then again, I almost aced the english section of the SATs as well. Writing, along a lot many other things come very naturally to me.

    Kevin,

I don't see how a study could be done on the "average person." I think Kevin Hutto (post above) is correct - the average person doesn't create any content. If you're talking about the average IMer, then yes, the number will be something above zero.

Here's the thing . . . most of the posts in this thread are being made by IMers and they are talking about articles they have created and blog posts. But is that the only kind of content? Not by a long way.

Posts here in the WF find their way online (outside the forum) so they could rightfully be claimed as content.

Ebooks are most definitely content. Newsletters are content. Infographics and other types of graphics could be considered content. Certainly emails contain content.

What about all the social networking that takes place online? Is that content? You'd better believe it.

I would say that most folks don't think of content in this way. But when you really think about it, a business could get a lot of mileage out of any and all of these various ways to spread its content online if they looked at this huge opportunity to promote their name and brand.

The best to all of you,

    Steve

I don't think studies reflect quality or knowledge. You can write 500 words a day or you can write 10,000. One thing is for sure: what goes beyond 3,000-5,000 will never match the quality of the first round, because exhaustion, physical or psychical, begins to take over.

If you were referring to blog posts, than one post of over 300 words every 3 days should do it.

Yeah, I was talking about all web content in general. As in every new indexable url an average person creates each day.

Interesting question - you aren't talking about affiliate marketers but rather individual people who know nothing about marketing or what indexing or a URL even is...

I would focus on the quality of content, not quantity.

Person A could produce 50-pages of crap every day.
Person B produces 5 pages of great stuff.

Which person are you going to want to buy from?
Which person is going to have a good repuation?

This is a very relative question. Writers, and article writers used to create hundreds to thousands of pages of content a month. Simple IMers with niche sites, probably about fuive a week normally is my guess.

Erm I think it will really depend on the person's desire. If the person is being placed at gun point to produce 20 articles in 24 hours or else he will be shot, there is a very high possibility that he will be able to produce the 20 articles. Just a matter of how badly the person want to achieve results online
