Afternoon all, just got a quick question please. I know it's important for your authority site to be optimise and look the party, would you spend a £1000 on a website, for it to be optimised and integrated with your blog?

Any comments will be welcome.

What do you mean by integrated with your blog?

I chose entrepreneurship over further education despite being laughed at by my friends and family..

I recently hit the "RESTART" button on my life, read my personal blog to find out how I did it :)

Well I thought it meant to make it work from the website for lack of a better word.

I would personally, if I thought it would be worth it in the long term. i'd base it as a long term investment.

    but, every site is different.

I'm still a little confused here hehe.

So you're looking to buy a ready made site?

Or are you looking to have a theme/site designed and built for you?

Thanks guys, the reason I am asking is because I have relied on capture pages for a while and haven't paid much attention to optimising a site and blog, and often have just kind of created these mediocre do it yourself blogs.

But with experience now, I know it's recommended to have a blog, didn't really think the website was that necessary when one has a blog (your thoughts on that please) and I am increasingly of the thought that it may even be better to just work with social media and an email marketing system and do away with blogs and sites as it is a cumbersome and process which takes a lot of effort on your side and most of the times for very little returns after you would have given some really good quality content.

If it is worth the investment, and you know exactly that it will give you a good ROI, then why not!? If you feel doubt for whatever reason, then simply leave it and invest the money to another project!

well, hi. in my point of view, no matter how fancy your site is, if you dont know how to drive traffic to it, then it is no use.. some times , a free and simple site (integrated with ur blog) but have lots of traffic everyday, it is better compare to those expensive custom - made websites that no 1 knows its existence just a thought though. peace :p

I want to agree with you to some extend Rosalin, it doesn't seem like these free sites will be going anywhere anytime soon are they, the only problem to fear with them ( which is the exact same problem with social media sites as well) is they can just change their terms of use as they please, which will obviously affect you, which is the major reason why we prefer to have our own self hosted sites.

But having said that, I have seen a few people using these types of sites with some success.

If you see my comment on doing away with sites and blogs and just focus on social media, the idea being that you deliver quality content only via email, saves you loads of time and makes sure you are not just wasting you valuable time pumping quality content out there with very little to show for it if anything.

Make sure your following a proven business plan and know how to drive targeted traffic before you dive into that investment. I spent 2k on my first website design only to realise I would have been better off with WordPress and creating content. I learnt from my expensive mistake and made the best of it.

A long while ago I did that when websites were an in thing, I just take it as a learning curve now, which is why I had not really bothered with anything like that for very long while.

But now, I think I better informed, hence the reason why I am doing this so I can get it right. The thing is I have been involved with programmes that not only teach on SEO, but they have specialist designers who can do it at a discounted price, but the question is still about the qua lit and the geographical location of the webmaster, all these things I think needs to be taken into consideration.

If you can find someone who can design a great website, I don't see why not. My brother used to charge between 800$-1,500$ for custom designed websites. There are people out there who will pay much more than that for a professional website. Of course, it can be done for much cheaper, but you will have to do some digging.

Personally, I think it is a reasonable price.

It depends on the quality of the services received. If your blog is already pretty successful, boosting your products and making the site more SEO friendly can be worth the price. Once again, it depends if you receive what you paid for!

Spend the money on great design if you must, but there are plenty of WordPress themes and plugins that will give you excellent SEO integration for much much less.

Check out the offerings from Studio Press - then get someone to design you a child theme on top of Genesis if you want something unique. It will also be more future proof.

I agreed with commerce cat. Spending £1000 for a website is too much.

To be honest, I wouldn't, because I'm quite picky when it comes to website design, content, etc., so I prefer to set up my own sites, so that I can have everything done according to my wishes, not to mention that it usually all ends up cheaper.

If you know your earnings, of course I would do!

I am consistently testing new designs etc to make sure I get the highest possible conversion rate.
So if you earn enough it is worth ti to make your site better, it will pay off!

It really depends on what you need or what your niche need. But I don't think that amount of money should on just website.

You can build a 1 page website (good looking of course) and put all the money into advertising.

Make sure whoever is building this website is legit. Do your homework. I've been ripped off by people like this before. And I agree with many others that it doesn't matter how good your website is if you have not traffic. I'd look at spending the money on traffic first and then look at making your website the way you want it. That way, at least you're making some money along the way.
