Where do you get your domains cheap?

Hi Warriors

I used to get them from 1&1 when they were $6.99. Now thye've jumped to $14.99 and I don't think I want to stay with them.

I have a bunch of domains and I'd like to know if you've got a favorite registrar.

Cheers,
Bud

Also, luckyregister.com has been good to me over the years. Stay away from godaddy at all costs.

You can find coupons with any of the big names in domain registration.. so if you have a favourite google some coupons and it`s almost certain you`ll find some..

Try NameSilo.com or Namecheap, both are very good. Some good deals with GoDaddy but only if you end up transfering your domains to another company before renewals or once you start making money.

Not to be repetitive but another vote for Namecheap.... And this comes from someone who has used/tried just about every registrar there is. Go with Namecheap and you won't be disappointed.

    budzy,

You still can purchase domains for almost the same price or cheaper.

Just Google "dot com domain coupon"
Buy from the cheapest one. (1&1, GoDaddy $2.95, namecheap, Name, etc)
After purchasing, Google "Domain Transfer Coupon".
Transfer the domain for an other year. Namecheap SWITCH2NC $8.67.
    Cost $2.95 + $8.67 = $11.62 = $5.81 per year domain cost.
    Go get it...

I've bought cheap domains by using the Coupon method and it works great.

For example I've bought names for 99 cents for the first year from GoDaddy using a coupon.

(BTW: Searching for Coupons works for a lot of other things not just Domain Registration...I have saved hundreds looking for coupons..)

Problem is after the fist year the rates go up to 10.99-14.99...

I understand getting in at 99 cents was a way to get me in their funnel.

Does name cheap or other domain registrants use the same tactics? In other word once you buy a domain does the rate go way up after the first year?

Who do you recommend who keep domain registration rates low?

All domain registrars have almost the same price unless you have a coupon.

I usually get mine through one of the companies that I have hosting with. They go through Internet.bs cost me $10.35 first year then $10.85 to renew. Doesn't seem like that great of a deal but ID Protection is Free. hostgator charges 9.99/yr for just id protection.

I get mine from Godaddy if I am not planning on keeping them for long. Use the Honey plugin extension, it will find you some great savings.

If I do plan on keeping the domain for more than a year, then I get mine from Namecheap.

Yes, I agree with kpmedia. Godaddy was horrible. They don't even know their own policies, and try to force you to stay with them.

    Hi,
GoDaddy has great deals if you download a firefox add on called Honey. Honey finds you the best deals on domain names only on GoDaddy. I got a dot com domain for $1.17.

    Good luck,

My favorite to search for are GoDaddy promo codes. There are many out there ranging from .99 to $4. You can usually find 4 or 5 searching for that exact phrase "GoDaddy promo codes".

  • I use GoDaddy but instead of visiting GoDaddy directly I go through ebates to get a further discount or cashback on my GoDaddy purchase. If you couple it with a coupon you find online, you can get a domain really cheaply. That being said I hate all of GoDaddy's up-sells and would love to transfer my names elsewhere if it were easy to do or another provider did it for me. Anyone have experience with that?

          SSL = Namecheap

For hosting, I use dedicated, VPS, reseller, and shared. So who you use depends on what you need. There's no one host that's perfect for everything.

          Aside from that, don't use
          - Godaddy
          - Yahoo
          - 1&1
          - the 50+ EIG brands, including Hostgator, Bluehost, Justhost, iPage, Fatcow, and a crapload others.

      It's easy to do, yes.
Use Namecheap for this. They have plenty of how-to info to help you.

For web hosting I use my own dedicated server and for a bit more IP diversification I keep a Host Gator account for my "lesser" sites. For SSL certificates I use NameCheap.com, they have quite a few options to choose from, and most are almost instant delivery. It is an easy setup/installation process if using Cpanel.

Seriously? 1&1 is still the best choice...plus they include private registrations and icann fees where GD does not. 15 per domain is nothing compared to 40+ that GD charges for the same stuff.

I use Name.com where it's under $10 with free privacy. No addon charges, 15 is half again as much and they don't force you to autorenew or give you a problem if you leave.

If you have a large number of domains, Namecheap will automatically apply a discount so you don't need to go hunting for coupons. You have to ask them for it though.
