How to be an Ethical and Profitable Affiliate

I recently decided to close my publishing empire and focus on being mainly an affiliate again.

I still have a few products circulating here and there, but my main focus is affiliate marketing again.

Now I don't promote a lot of stuff, I have my main offer I promote, then a coaching service, but from time to time I'll setup another little campaign for some extra cash.

So here's the process I go through to be an ethical, honest, ad well fed affiliate

1. Finding the right offer.

i like promoting through jvzoo, they've came a long way and have some cool features I like. (I prefer offers with their own built in affiliate program but they can be harder to find)

So I start my search by looking for something that is already proven to sell, and converts well. I look for 1000+ sales and between 3-5% conversion rate.

then I begin a process of narrowing down. There will usually be about 10-15 products on the potential list thus far.

Then I'll take a look at the sales pages and the offers, and eliminate all the ones I wouldn't buy myself.

This usually leaves me with 3-5 offers that I would actually buy myself.

Once I have my list of offers I would actually buy myself. I look at the JV page see what kinds of commissions they pay out, and if they have any cool affiliate prizes.

Based on that, I'll decide who has the best payout, then BUY THE PRODUCT

Never promote anything you would not or have not bought yourself.

When you buy it, make sure the process provides a good buying experience, go through it and make sure it's good. If it's good then promote it.

going though this process will make yo feel good when it's time to sell it, and you will proudly get out there and sell it.

Awesome piece of common sense advice. Not only does this make your marketing much more "ethical" but I also bet it allows you to promote the product far better than you otherwise would.

Overall, very good post. In a dog-eat-dog industry such as our own it's essential to self-regulate and maintain the highest caliber of standards.

I agree with your point on buying the products so that you can honestly review the product. It is still the best way to grow a long term business by focusing on giving values to subscribers.

of course the value is important, there are people who have been on my list since I started. That read just about every email and buy just about everything I've ever emialed.

You have to treat your list right no matter what you do
