Are Squeeze Pages Too Standardized?

I just wanted to pose this question, because when I look at various squeeze pages that people on warrior forums are showing, it seems to me they are very similar in format. There are obviously lots of companies out there that are marketing their products with pages that do not fit the pattern so commonly seen here. So among warriors, are squeeze pages too standardized?
(where is the creativity?)

There's a time and place for everything, including creativity.

Creativity is easily tempered by empirical proof.

I'm all for trying new things, but the goal is to try and beat a control, not reinvent the wheel.

    Hope that helps,

I've been testing my squeeze pages for awhile and have found that a particular format that most marketers use does actually convert very well. I tried different stuff first, when it came down to split testing conversion rates, one design seems to significantly outshine them all.

Naturally the testing will continue on though, so I'm sure some day someone will figure out something that works better.

    dvduval-

    Brian is absolutely right.

In marketing, you'll quite often find
that when a lot of people are following
the same format or system, it's because
    it works best.

Sure, having a nice creative squeezepage
    is great...

But wouldn't you rather have one that
    converts 80% of your visitors?

I know I would, and so would anyone else
who is building a list primarily to make
    money from.

    Pardon me,

    Squeeze Page = Landing Page?

It may be that marketers are buying from other marketers and there is a recognized look that they trust. But when it comes to empirical evidence, we could easily talk about sites like ebay, amazon or oreilly, and make the case that their landing or squeeze pages are most definitely based on split testing and evidence too.

The ONLY thing that matters is results. Test it then test something else against it.
Which ever works better is the one to use. You see alot of similar formats because some elements of a squeeze page have been well-tested over the years and proven to work.
