Does email marketing still work?

So I always like to double check things before I get started. I am building an email list in the dating/relationship niche. Just wondering if email marketing still works or not. Seems like more people are not building a list anymore and just making affiliate sites. But I want to have a customer database.

Yes, it works but many people quit it just because their direct ads are losing the effect they had in the past. Nobody wants this freaking spam in their email boxes. Meanwhile, content driven email marketing always works.

I too agree with the statement mentioned above. Email marketing definitely has enough value to attract huge amount of genuine traffic and to bring handsome quality of real leads which can turn your business into a very profitable one.
And the whole scenario depends upon the content. The content will always remain king. Thus by providing unique, mass appealing content can definitely turn your email marketing business into very successful strategy which results into higher revenue generation.

Yes, because you can communicate directly to your 'potential buyers' in a list unlike trying to wait for months to get traffic from Google..

Drag that whiny little ego voice that's making you second guess yourself out of your brain and kick its ass into submission.

Then set up a new list, create a web form and write some emails.

Forget what everyone else says about email. Unless you plan on buying traffic and slinging bits forever, you need to build an email list and figure out how to make it work for yourself.

This is wonderful! I especially like the "drag that whiny little ego voice that's making you second guess yourself."

We all have that "whiny little ego voice." Try something and if it doesn't work adjust. We have the light bulb because Edison didn't stop at 9,999 times of it not working.

Hit them with your email list, but also hit them everywhere else you can.

But yeah, email marketing will work for the entire duration of our lives, I'd wager.

As long as people still create online accounts, still use their emails as account recovery tools, ad as long as the government doesn't outlaw email marketing, it will work.

(In 80 years, maybe it'll be obsolete).

Email marketing still works and will always work... it's just a tool. Now, what doesn't work is the way people decide to market. From writing sales copy to writing and offering free reports, to building and selling an offer. Most marketers are horrible at is and that's the REAL dilemma...

  • I was told by my mentor today that each person on your list is worth about $1 per month and he's a 6 figure earner with affiliate marketing. So whatever your monthly income goal is simply focus on building a quality list of that many leads and you'll attain your goal.

  • Email marketing should be part of any marketing you do. Let's say you do SEO or PPC. You're doing great with those platforms and then bam! A furry update wipes out your rankings or your PPC account is banned. If you've building a responsive email list the right way, it doesn't matter that these other resources have dried up because you've made sure to collect the email addresses of the people you got from these mediums. So definitely use email marketing with whatever you do!

Your list is super valuable and can withstand any internet marketing fads. Hope this helps.

Email marketing still works to some degree, however things are changing. Many people are submitting fake email addresses, and not opening when they do. This is why open rates are dropping. Cell phone submissions will be the next big thing.

Of course it works! Your list is one the biggest assets you can ever built in your online business. Everything you do, all the traffic strategies and marketing should be focused on building your list. Bigger your list, more authoritative you become in this industry. But the main point is making that connection with your subscribers. They have to KNOW, LIKE & TRUST you. Do not be a seller. No one like a sales man. Rather become their trusted adviser and keep their interest up in your priority list. Never ever promote anything that you are not sure of. Make sure whatever you recommend to them is nothing but top-notch stuff that can actually help them in achieving their goals. And one thing applies to email marketing a lot, specially now. Remember that their are 100s and 1000s of other email marketers that they may be subscribed to right now. All of them, along with you, are trying to get their attention. So you need to shine up above all of them. Try to be bit different. Add your personality to your content. That's what makes your content unique. You have to be "in their mind" on a regular basis. If you are out of sight, you ill soon be out of their mind too. So try to connect with them on as many mediums as possible. On videos, on your blog, on your emails, on social media like Facebook. Be everywhere. Try to always be there for them.
    Hope that helps!

Actually I think it's reversed. I think more people understand the importance of building a list to affiliate marketing and using the list for affiliate marketing.

See for us that have been doing this awhile. We win at first and when we start making tons of money, the companies change there Tos to cut down are money.

Adsense I made a killing and Google killed it for me. Amazon I was making a killing and they changed. Hubpages, squidoo and I could go on and on.

Thing is if I would of started building a list when I was new, I could not even dream how big that would be.

If by email marketing you understand building a list of people who visit your site and are interested in what you sell and sending them occasional emails with promotions and news, it works great.
If you mean buying lists from others an spamming email accounts with links to your site, it may do more harm than good.

I think the reason it seems that way is that there's a huge and ever-changing pool of people who are new-ish to internet marketing who try to do it without any list-building because it's easier for them, requires less education, less skill, less testing and less work. It also stacks the deck against them, overall, so much, that they're the people dropping out (but for ever being replaced by a new "generation" of would-be marketers, each duplicating exactly the same mistakes over and over again, indefinitely).

There are a few hundred threads in this forum with titles similar to "What's The One Thing You'd Do Differently If You Were Starting Again Tomorrow?". Take a look through a small sample of them, and you'll find that one of the things they all have in common is that they're full of replies from long-established, successful Warriors almost all of whom give the same answer: the thing they'd do differently, with what they know now but didn't know when they started, is "start to build a list on day 1". There are reasons for that, and they're very good and very valid reasons.

There are a few (a very, very few!!) people here who even claim to have "well-converting ClickBank affiliate sites without list-building" , but when you look carefully at the other, unrelated stuff that those same people are saying, in other threads, it doesn't actually stand up to examination for a moment. Draw your own conclusions.

    I agree with Alexa.

    Email marketing still works great.

To be really effective you need to take the time to learn to
build a strong relationship with your list-members. That
comes through studying what's working for others, combined
with a lot of testing and tracking.

Once you crack the code, it can be relatively effortless.
However, I've watched many people get dismal results at
first. That's when you need to keep making small changes
    until you figure it out.

It will still come down to how the person is going to do it. You'll read here mostly that it still works well because they do it properly. You are probably asking here because you also read somewhere it's no longer effective maybe because they were lazy or impatient to see results. Whatever method you use, it will still greatly depend on how the person is going to use it.

    Hi Corey,

I would say yes. It does. But you have to be able to build a list of buyers, and they must be interested in what you have to sell. Although what I just said is something everyone knows, it really is about getting your list built quickly, and having several emails ready to go that provide great content.

I have looked at email swapping websites. Although you don't want to do swaps with your main list, you usually just join these websites for the ability to do solo ads. You can also JV with people there. This way, you will have a way to build your list quickly, with the right type of audience, plus meet new people in the industry.

Email marketing WORKS, IS WORKING AND WILL WORK forever but please remember this...

The money is NOT in the list. It is in the RELATIONSHIP with your list.

Try to make the responsive list, create the good relationship with your subscribers. Once they engage you, they will ready purchase the GOOD stuffs you suggest.

If you're in the dating and relationship niche I would recommend creating a relationship site. Build a list and promote your site with a month fee slightly lower then the competition, and provide higher quality. Dating site are hammered with scum looking for a "quickie" so if you provide an easy solution the pay would be incredible. I saw a WSO for building a dating site somewhere on warrior plus which could be right up your alley.

E-mail marketing still works and so does building a list. People still read e-mails so it goes without saying that e-mail marketing still does work. It is just that it might be done a bit differently than it ws done a few years ago, but in its basics, yes it still does work.

It is important to build a list for your business because without a list, you essentially don't have a business. You need people to market to and the list is your best option.

You can build your list here on the Warrior forum by providing a signature file that goes along with each of your posts and such. That's one way to get started. Then of course, you can use things like Facebook, Twitter and other social sites not mentioned here.

Some of the entirepreneurs online will tell you that e-mail marketing doesn't work, but believe me, it still does because I get sales messages all of the time inside my inbox, so I know that they still do work.
