My Amazon conversion and clickthrough rate has increased dramatically after I made these changes....

I want to share this 2-week experiment with my Amazon authority site that resulted to more than 100% increase in my conversion and CTR. There is no other ad running on this site except for Amazon.

Before the experiment:
Amazon conversion rate = 4.15% (via Amazon.com)
Daily CTR = 16.45% (via addfreestats.com)

After changes
Conversion rate = 9.51%
Daily CTR = 38.72%

Before, I had the updated product prices posted on each product page right under the title of each article/product review. After examining and analyzing my addfreestats data, I wondered why the CTR was so low and people were leaving my site right after they arrived without clicking anything. I thought people immediately closed the page after seeing the price which I think too expensive for them. I am doing the same (closing the page after seeing the price of the product) so I assumed that this was the main reason why people were running away from my site.

I removed the prices and replaced it with "Click Here to See the Current Price" for non-discounted products, and "Click here for Discounted Price" for discounted products. Since Addfreestats provides instant data, I saw an abrupt changes on my CTR after several hours of changes, and saw big increase on conversion rate after 2 days. Lots of orders coming in. The same thing happened for the whole week and the succeeding week (2 weeks now).

I think most people react when seeing the price first before the product details that's why the "average time on site" was very low. Without giving them the exact price, they were curios to check it and when they landed to amazon site upon clicking that link, they are provided a lot of options if they find the price of the certain product expensive.

My site promotes only home appliances and before the changes, sales of non-appliance products was very low. After I made changes, sales on non-related products increased more than 2 folds in especially cheaper products like books, ipad covers, toys, etc.

I thought people who purchased before I made changes were people who really needed to buy that certain home appliance and were ready to enter their credit card details. After the changes, I thought people who were just doing window shopping for home appliances (and not yet ready to buy) were convinced to buy products with lower prices when they arrived at the amazon site...

Sometimes, small changes can big impact if you analyze the problem well and take action.. To those people who are running Amazon sites, you can try the same.. Good luck.

Thank you for the tip. Will have to implement it. I was doing same..adding price just below the product image.

Good stuff. I actually never give the prices upfront. I figure if they click through to find out the price, that's another thing that motivated them to make that click and that gets them to the Amazon page. In other words, not telling them the price increases their curiosity, then they have to click through to see it anyway, which puts me one step closer to making that sale.

But I haven't been specifically creating a call to action to see the price itself. Glad it worked out for you.

I am doing it only once per article. Sometimes, putting a lot of call to actions in one article may sound like the owner is desperate to sell and that can scare away the visitors.

That's great. I no longer do full time Amazon from the low commission structure but getting them to click the link is most the battle. Even if they don't buy that high priced product Amazon has a pretty good system down of selling them something less expensive and you still get a commission.

yeah amazon is an easy aff programme to get started with and had lots of options but conversions are difficult... I use to do very well with amazon...

I found that the bigger the review and not letting on abou t the price till the end (like you) worked... but ebay had always been the better earner for me along with single product affiliate programs.

amazon makes you work very hard on the pre sell and the cookie length is very short for my liking...lol
