I would say if you dont have a nice email list in that niche you should spend some bucks on SOLO ads or look into JV'ng with someone with a few email lists. Or a very large one.

Shameless repurposing of content from somewhere else. This was originally written for someone in the IM space but since you're after affiliate traffic it's just as relevant for you.

    ---

The 3 key differences between a 10 unit launch and a 2000+ unit launch -

    1. The product - If your product doesn't appeal to a decent number of people, you're never going to sell a decent number of units. Get a feel for what sells by looking at what's already out there. One of the biggest mistakes newbies make it trying to be radically different for fear of competition. F*** the competition, find a hungry crowd and sell to it, your life will be so much easier.

    2. The conversion - We live in a massively over communicated society where every man and his dog advertises to us on a daily basis. You could have a cure for cancer and if you can't convince people it'll work, you won't sell more than 10 units. Equally, you could have a potato peeler and sell a bazillion units if your sales pitch rocks -

    3. The traffic - In other markets you have options, lots of them. But in the IM launch space we have our own lists and affiliates. So "traffic" is really just a way of saying, "relationships with people". Call it an old boys club all you like but really it's just people that know each other and people who don't. Starting JV relationships is much like picking up a girl in a bar ... the more alcohol you buy them, the better your chances.

Most people spend a month on their product, a weekend on their copy and about 10 minutes posting JV announcements in places people won't see them. If that's you, consider this a slap upside the face to take a more balanced approach and fix the other parts of your launch.

The 3 key components don't change from niche to niche.

        1. Create a great product that people want to buy.

        2. Produce high conversion sales copy that persuades people to buy (and PROVE it works).

        3. Put this promo opportunity in front of people with traffic and give them a better commission than the next guy doing the same thing.

The biggest problem is people try to jump over these steps. They want to jump into the JV conversation without a proven product and without proven copy.

So let's break it down and look at where you need to be before you move on from each stage.

        1. Great product. Have you given it away to a couple of dozen people and got them absolutely raving about how super amazing it is? No, your Mum doesn't count. It has to be people who will give you straight up honest feedback. If they don't think it's amazing, make the product better before you even attempt to move on to selling it.

        2. Great copy. Once you know the product rocks, half the sales work is done since you know what people love about it. But you still have to make sure you push the right buttons. Before you move on to affiliate traffic you absolutely HAVE to prove the copy converts. Pay for traffic, offer affiliates 150% commission to derisk their promotion or whatever it takes to get numbers to put in front of people. But don't even think about having regular affiliate conversations saying, "Will you promote this, until you have some numbers to put in front of people."

        3. Great affiliates. If you've done 1 and 2 properly, 3 will be a cake walk. You've got a hot product with amazing copy and numbers to prove it. That'll do 99% of the work in convincing people to send you their traffic. And you'll no longer need to pay out of pocket to get at that traffic.

A lot of different questions that several books could be written
on, but I would say that one of the most important things that
you could start doing is building relationships.

You want to get know by super affiliates, centers of influence,
    bloggers in your niche etc.

You also want to start validating your expertise... by publishing
content on the topic, doing media interviews on the topic, etc.

If you don't already have one, I'd set up a fanpage on Facebook,
and start building a following there, by sharing content... and
perhaps using that to build a list of both potential customers and
    potential affiliates in the niche.

Start a blog if you have not already and offer free valuable info to people. Ensure you have a squeeze page in place and other viral buttons to ensure that people can help you spread the word. Hang out in high traffic forums and utlize the 'power of pre selling' to show that you are an authority in your field. Look out for the big players with targeted mailing lists and jv with them. You can also sell your product through Clickbank, Amazon and other digital platforms.

wow Andy you giving more info than both of my coaches who didn't bother to reply my email. So if I understand correctly here are the steps I should take for my 6 figure launch:

    1. Create a great product that people want to buy

So far I have eBook and Recipes eBook. In weight loss niche what would be better in your opinion:

    how-to eBook + eBook recipes
how-to eBook + videos how to prepare recipes + videos with exercises
how-to eBook + eBook recipes + OTO consultation through Skype

    2. Produce high conversion sales copy that persuades people to buy (and PROVE it works).

This part I'm not sure how to go about it, particularly how to prove it works.

    3. Put this promo opportunity in front of people with traffic and give them a better commission than the next guy doing the same thing.

How to put in front of people with traffic? Where?

    1. Great product. Have you given it away to a couple of dozen people and got them absolutely raving about how super amazing it is?

What if I give my product and somebody will copy??? I will lose all my hard work. I don't mind even give to test but how I can be assured that nobody will copy and sell my product as they own or behind my back.

You're looking at your product the wrong way. Your product isn't comprised of a series of THINGS. It's made up of a series of benefits. If I buy your product, how am I better off? Figure that out then figure out the fastest way to get me from A to B. (Which may be different for different people, which either makes your sales copy more targeted or your product broader. Eg some people prefer to read, some prefer to watch. You can either have it in one format and extoll the virtues of that format, or do multiple formats and play up the accessibility.)

      2. Produce high conversion sales copy that persuades people to buy (and PROVE it works).

This part I'm not sure how to go about it, particularly how to prove it works.
You prove the copy converts by sending traffic to it and measuring the conversion rate. For every 100 people who see it, how many buy? Make this number as high as possible. Keep in mind these figures will be different for different traffic sources. Warm affiliate traffic presold on the product is going to convert 10x higher than direct to sales letter PPC traffic and 1000000x higher than PPV popunder traffic.

By far the easiest way to do this is to buy the traffic to begin with. Either PPC traffic or doing a deal with someone to send you traffic they have. Before you have stats you'll typically need to buy this traffic at risk as affiliates tend to mail proven products/people.

      3. Put this promo opportunity in front of people with traffic and give them a better commission than the next guy doing the same thing.

How to put in front of people with traffic? Where?
If you're unsure on the above, I wouldn't worry about this step for now. But for future reference.

      - Other product owners with COMPLEMENTARY (not COMPETING!) products.
      - Anyone doing related lead gen (look for people running PPC ads).
      - Anyone with an authority site, blog, forum, YouTube channel etc.
      - Basically anyone with an audience, ideally someone already running promos since you won't have to explain to them that money is a good thing.

They're going to copy it, steal it, sell it themselves. This happens to everything, especially info products. Spend zero time thinking and worrying about it and focus on maximising your upside, not limiting someone else's.

Further example on the "what kind of product is better?" part -

Pretend this thread was an info product. It's written down rather than recorded in a video or sung in performance art.

Does that really matter to you?

    Nope, not a bit.

What you want is the info on how to launch stuff successfully.

You are right, good things come in small packages, its make so much sense to me now. I will go the different way from now on. I think I will setup a page where I will give one "phase" of my plan for free and if people interested they will ask my for the rest. I'm not sure should I make a

      1) page like a squeeze type with my picture "before" and "after" in the middle and an email optin box on the right side
      2) page with my story how got from point A to B and on the bottom "Contact me"

If you're ever unsure which way to go -

        Test both.

If you can't test for whatever reason flip a coin, do that and move on.

        Don't over think it.

Great helpful replies there Andy and food for thought for many I imagine

On the subject of recruiting affiliates go help them out before asking something of them. Offer to promote their product, review a product for them. Heck even do the video review then email it to them without even asking if they need it .

Look for joint venture groups online and sign-up/take part to get known

Spending two years on one product is very dangerous. I'm just speaking from experience. If the product flops and/or you have been creating something you THOUGHT people wanted but they really didn't, it can mean a lot of wasted time.

If I were going to spend two years creating a product I would at least want to test the waters first by doing a smaller launch of a simple product. Have you done something like that? Even if you were creating something a market needed or wanted two years ago, it's very possible the needs and wants of your market have since changed. That's another reason why you want to be creating your products much faster.

Anyway, with that aside, affiliates and building your brand are something you should be working on as we speak. They are even more important than you product. A brand isn't built over night. Reputations take time and so you really want to be focusing on that stuff way before launch -- the sooner the better.
