Amazon Links in a pdf

I've searched everywhere but cannot find any info on how to put Amazon links into a pdf.

I know how to put ordinary links into this type of file but Amazon links have completely baffled me. Every time I try I just get a notice telling me the 'required action cannot be performed'.

Can anybody tell me how to do it?

Thanks in advance.

I think it's against the rules to link from a PDF.

Put a link to your website instead - and on your website link to Amazon.

You are really asking how to put affiliate links into PDFs, correct?

There are a couple of very good reasons not to do that, even if you do figure out the technical end of it.

First, as Sunil pointed out, associate links in pdfs may violate the rules, especially if you plan to distribute those pdf files via email. The best bet to cover this base is to ask Amazon Associates about your specific application, then save the answer.

Second, products come and go, and links change. You don't want people who acquire your pdf clicking on dead links, or reaching a "product not available" page.

Better to use a redirect page on your website, one where you can easily change the destination to a new product if necessary. You can even add a short blurb saying "the product I originally linked you to is no longer available, but this one is just as good (or better)" along with the new link.

You should take the advice of the 2 posts above, but just to let you know for future reference you can't edit a pdf, you have to convert another file (ie. .doc, . odt) into a pdf...

Thanks. I know that you cannot do that. I was just saying "into" a pdf rather than saying "into a word doc and then converting ..............."

Use the Pretty Link Lite WordPress plugin on your PDF.

Pretty Link Lite acts as a URL shortener for your blog which means Amazon will see that they came from your blog and not the PDF.

Put a link to a page on your website, and then have your page redirect to the Amazon page.

    Easy enough.

Yes you can easily add an Amazon link to a word doc. For example you could link to all your books in the back of one of your books - and you should.

But keep in mind as others have said you cannot add Amazon AFFILIATE links to your PDF's, eBooks, auto responders or other offline materials as it is against Amazon Affiliate TOS.
