Disappearing Youtube Descriptions

Hi guys,

Quick one.

I have clients in Australia and New Zealand who are seeing the description below their Youtube videos disappear when the video has finished playing on the Youtube site.

The description is replaced with the 'Share' option and the only way for the viewer to be able to read the description again is to click the 'About' tab (which most people would not know they had to do that).

In addition, adverts are appearing along the bottom of the videos, despite the fact that in 'settings' they have set it for no ads to appear and have NOT joined the Youtube partner scheme to show ads.

When I play the ad here in Cyprus, I am not seeing those ads appear at the bottom of the videos, but I DO see the description disappearing when the video ends.

1. Anyone know if there is a way to stop the ads from appearing at the bottom of the videos (other than in settings, which has already been tried)?

2. Anyone got any solution to the description disappearing when the video ends, or is this being rolled out across all videos on Youtube now?

Thanks in advance guys.

What can we say on big g as in - they are so annoying.

Put at the end of your video this message. Hit replay to see the description again.

    1. To avoid this, may be you can add the website URL at the end of the video and keep it at center with highlighted color. Something like - Visit our site yoursitename. Whoever is going to watch the video, they will see the URL anyway.

    2. You can add clickable link at the end of the video itself. So, even though description disappears, visitor would be able to click on the link. (But these feature works only in Flash environment and mobile devices won't be able to display link). Other way, you can instruct visitor as : Visit our site yoursitname or just click on the link below this video (please check the About section) and then put one arrow pointing below.

I see a couple of possibilities here. First, the ads could be geo-targeted, so that your clients see them and you don't. Second, if your clients are the only ones seeing the ads, they could have some type of malware keyed to YouTube. Have them ask others outside the company to see if the ads run. Another possibility is that someone may have found a way to sneak an outside script in via the comments or such. You may want to ask YT about this issue, as I'm sure they don't want outsiders stealing their ad revenue.

This is another question you might want to ask YT about directly while you monitor answers here.

Thanks guys. Yes, we know about adding comments or annotations to calls to acton in the vids but it's particularly my questions we need to resolve really.

John, thanks for your answer. Not just my clients seeing it but others in their area too, so could be a geo targeting thing I guess.

re point 2. This is something that people in Australia are seeing and I am too in Cyprus.

Thanks for taking the time to reply though John.
