Video Marketing (You Tube)

Video marketing has become one of the most talked about ways to drive traffic to websites, and it is no surprise. Once YouTube had grown to the incredible size it is today, it was inevitable that marketers everywhere would try to harness its immense power for themselves. Some have succeeded in spectacular style, while a great many who went in half heartedly thinking it would be easy have not made a single penny. YouTube as a whole may have colossal page views, but that does not mean that any one individual video is going to get any page views at all. There are right ways and wrong ways of marketing with video, and the biggest successes come with videos which go viral.

Creating a video is something which can be undertaken with no expense. Using the Open Office Impress slide program and Camstudio screen capture, you can create free informational videos. You can obviously achieve a far better result if you have professional equipment, and you can also inject yourself into the video to make yourself more real to potential customers. With video, unlike with articles, the more outrageous, controversial, and even silly a video is, the more likely it is to get repeated viewings and go viral. The successful videos are the ones which stand out.

If you have built up an advertising budget, it is even possible to get into video marketing without ever needing to create a video. If there is a video which is getting a large number of views, you can try negotiating with the owner to have them put your link at the start of the description. In a lot of niche markets, people are amazed to find that their video has commercial vale, and delighted to be paid for something which was a hobby to them anyway. You can also negotiate to buy the video outright if you think you can gain enough commercial value from it. It is never easy to predict which video will become a great success, so if you can buy a ready made success you are taking the uncertainty out of video marketing.

Great idea about approaching existing video owners, a lot of these people who put up videos are just doing it for the fun of it and i would agree that they would be impressed to know that there funny video they made on a whim to entertain the masses may have some monetary value for them.

Have you used this method with popular videos and what was the response like from the video owners themselves?

I do this for a travel business I am in. I have them put up my travel link and pay them 50% commission or 500 per sale I make.

I can tell you this using You Tube can be tricky because if you read there usage policy it clearly states that you may NOT post video ads or videos for the use of commercials or for business purposes. That is kinda why the site I promote developed their site. Check them out the link is in my sig and they are free to upload and get unlimited views just like you tube. They do have some SEO services they charge for that are very low cost but effective if you want to really get your ads seen on the search engines.

    best of luck to you.

Youtube is a great community. Ironically there is a lot of crap there, but it's clean and accessible.

There have been copy cats, that are better, look better, and more professionally oriented. But youtube has the community.

Still, explore the other great video sharing sites out there.

And,... DO NOT produce crap. Or I'll give you a beating.
