What Are They Doing Differently?

I'm sorry to keep posting like this.

But I'm really clueless as to how sites exactly the same as mine, are making so much more than my site is?

I have 30k UNIQUE visitors a month, with about 50K PAGEVIEWS.

I'm earning pittance, which is hardly worth mentioning.

However, I'm looking at flippa, and sites like mine, with a 10th of the UV/PV (2500 unique visitors a month with 10,000 page views, and yet they're earning 400$ a month)?

This is just checking Flippa, what could I be doing so wrong to earn nothing?
Or are they lying? I mean 1 site, claiming $250 Revenue a month I've been looking for like, half an hour. and can't see ONE monetization method on their site.

No affiliations, no Adsense, no Banner Ads, NOTHING.

30k uniques should be fairly easy to monetize. How much exactly will depend on your niche, the type of site, and your visitor demographics, among other factors.

    No, they are not lying.

My blog, which you can see in my sig below, has been earning a little money like this for the last 7 months, and increasing month on month.

For example, August (7th month) is already my best month and it's not even over - close to $750 revenue already from 2k visitors. I don't even 'sell' on my blog, nor do I 'sell' to my (very) small list. I just offer, what I believe to be good solid, helpful content.

My earnings aren't life changing, but allows me to reinvest in the site, and it even stretches to a Starbucks or two.

You missed the point. I am merely saying that even with 2.5k monthly visitors, the income claims that the OP is seeing IS possible.

space flight is possible. so is lying. anything is possible.

forget about what anyone else says when they claim what their site is worth.

I mean no disrespect at all, but don't you think that if you invested more of your time in your own business, than investigating others with unverifiable claims that you just might begin to see a rise in your income?

I've always thought that comparing yourself to others is very counterproductive.

Another way to look at the question is:

If you bought the site on Flippa that you're comparing yours to, would it continue to make $400 a month from that point on. Sadly, many sites on Flippa will not sustain their profit claims. A lot of the sites are pump and dump where they pump up the traffic through various short term methods and then sell as quickly as possible claiming high revenue levels. These sites can usually only show revenue stats for a few months. Also, some site owners take down their adsense ads for the duration of the auction. So, it's not always realistic to compare your site to those on Flippa.

Nonetheless, you should be able to monetize your site effectively with the amount of traffic you get. Perhaps you haven't matched your offer to your traffic properly or the ads being displayed are not of interest to your audience.

I agree with the others, don't worry about what other people are doing especially when you can't verify their income anyway. Take a look at your niche and the demographics of the people visiting your site and then try to come up with a good plan to monetize that traffic. If your using AdSense then you probably can raise your earnings just by switching to related offers of your own. If you have that much traffic and haven't built a list then try to get them to optin to an email list and begin promoting offers to them.Other than that it's hard to say without knowing the subject of the site.

It`s all into good traffic and good offers to promote. Find something worth promoting and try to get targeted traffic, numbers are important but targeted traffic is much more important to begin with. I`ve found an offer of 1 million unique in cold traffic, but that could bring you less than 1000 targeted people.

I agree with many of the suggestions here. I spend about 5% of my time on competitor research just to get a quick over view of what they are doing. The other 95% of my time is building relationships, marketing, improving my site/skills etc. to bring value to others.

If your mindset is to help others with their needs then that is when the revenue will start to increase.
